Another happy ending for a very sweet dog " ANGELO" ...Thank You Diana George Babish for Making The World a Better Place

ARABIC BELOW

Another happy ending for a very sweet dog " ANGELO" .
Angelo made it to Canada , yet he is five months , he had a long trip started with pain and abuse , but he had a happy ending. Angelo with three of his siblings were found in a cardboard box near the shelter four months ago. All had severe skin problems, the two females died but the males survived Tobby and Angelo. Angelo had another additional problem, people had cut part of his leg and burnt his stomach when he was less than a month. He got the necessary treatment and was fostered first by Samar Nashash, then Leonie Bannoura, and Kaie who gave him all the attention needed for 3 months.

Now he is in a foster home in Canada with our friend Ari who adopted one of our dogs " Gus " till his new family will take him to their house. We thank all the fosters who cared for him, Miss Michelle Boles who volunteered to take him with her to Canada, and all our volunteers who helped to make this happens. Pls save a soul by supporting our doggies

مشترياتي للشتوية ٢٠١٩/winter haul 2019 Beautiful Hannah

Trying to show the other Palestine, the one we never see on the news featuring the beautiful Hannah Zaid.

#LovePalestine

Just wanted to tell everyone about the animal shelter of another beautiful lady Diana George Babish and her very lovely dogs that she rescues in Beit Sahour.

I have a donation button on my facebook page to benefit her dog and cat shelter.  She works very hard to find homes for dogs she finds on the streets of Bethlehem and the surrounding areas.  She provides food and housing and medical care, microchips, papers for traveling and crates for the plane ride.

The issue is finding homes for these lovely animals due to physical and political isolation.  If you would like to make a donation that would be wonderful or if you would just like to share the info that would be fabulous, also.

If you have any tips on sharing or other good ideas please let me know.

Thank you for reading.

Ashrawi: Palestinians Seek Freedom, will not Surrender to Permanent Dispossession and Subjugation

POSTED ON: JUN 6, 2019
Ashrawi: Palestinians Seek Freedom, will not Surrender to Permanent Dispossession and Subjugation
Fifty-two years after Israel occupied the Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, the Palestinian people continue to resist this colonial occupation with dignity and inspiring steadfastness.
The occupation that began in 1967 is part of a continuum of injustice, dispossession, and disenfranchisement that was penned in the hallways of the United Nations in 1947 then formalized with the Nakba of 1948.
“Yet, the Palestinian people continue to pursue justice and freedom, demand accountability for egregious violations of international law and Palestinian human rights and work with peace and justice advocates to end the indignity of occupation and dispossession,” said PLO Executive Committee member, Hanan Ashrawi.
This military colonial occupation has been maintained and entrenched by illegality criminality, and impunity; emboldened by international inaction and lack of accountability. For over half a century, the Palestinian people have resisted dehumanization and institutional injustice that inform crimes, forced transfer, illegal settlement construction, restrictions of movement, theft of resources, and denial of our people’s potential, Ashrawi added in a statement.
“ These policies and illegal practices have all been in a futile attempt to rob the Palestinian people of hope in realizing their independent state and living in the freedom of prosperity,” she said.
Today, our people also remember that over seven decades of false and broken international promises have also passed. The Question of Palestine continues to highlight the international community’s grave failure to realize peace and justice for a people who were uprooted, plunged into crisis, and denied their inalienable right to self-determination because of international inaction and/or collusion.
“This failure has resulted in a culture of impunity, with Israel committing crimes knowing it will be shielded from accountability or even reproach,” added Ashrawi.
Today, the Palestinian people face the serious threat of a life of permanent conflict, exile, or occupation due to the racist and hostile policies of the US-Israeli alliance against our fundamental rights. These rightwing allies seek Palestinian surrender and capitulation. In the same manner, their supremacist attitude towards the Palestinian people, disdain for international law and principles of human rights, and assault on Palestinian rights are an integral part of the hostility harbored by the Trump administration and the rightwing in Israel towards the international rules-based order.
In this context, Palestine presents yet another test to the credibility and standing of the international system; a test responsible actors must not fail, said the statement.
“Yet, the Palestinian people continue to stand tall, persevering in their struggle for freedom with dignity and in the company of all committed advocates of peace and universal human rights. Despite setbacks and disappointments, the Palestinian people’s determination to realize their freedom and enjoy a life of prosperity is unwavering. Political and financial extortion will not dissuade us. Equally, farcical attempts at bribing the Palestinian people with a fistful of dollars in exchange for their freedom will fail,” Ashrawi concluded.

Calling All the Dog People Out There: This Lovely Lady Needs a Home! #LovePalestine

Image may contain: dog, outdoor and nature

Just wanted to tell everyone about Diana George Babish and her animal shelter just outside of Bethlehem in Beit Sahour.

I visited there this year as part of my side trip with Bike Palestine. She is having a large problem right now because the government officials are in the process of closing her shelter.

She has saved hundreds of dogs and cats from abuse and hunger and abandonment.

As you may know, there is a huge issue in the region with stray dogs. I noticed this on my first trip to Palestine and one of our guides said that the people there are struggling so hard with the activities of daily living there just is not a focus on animals.

The shelter is really doing God's work because not only are they isolated by land but they are also isolated by politics, as well.

Another problem is that there is not a government council such as a humane society or animal protection.

Many dogs are abandoned and end up forming packs that roam the city. The animals cannot survive in this way and sadly, once in a while they attack a child.

She has the only animal shelter in the West Bank and right now she needs all of the help she can get.

If anyone out there has any suggestions for helping or can adopt any dog or cat this would save the life of an animal.

She easily provides documents, crates and instructions--hundreds of her rescued dogs have been adopted all over the world.

Here is a link to her facebook page and thank you for taking the time to read this post:

Here is a link to the facebook page of the shelter for more info on signing a petition, sending and e-mail to the government council and also a Go fund Me:

Check out Boss--he is a cool cat and he needs a home.

Please share this post...........

I wrote a post about the animal shelter in Bethlehem. If you want me to edit it in some way so you can put it on your page just let me know. This lady is working so hard to help the dogs and cats. I visited her and fell in love with the people and the place. I am trying to tell every one about it. thank you for your time, Cl

Cycling The Countryside of Palestine

Go To Palestine--Ride a Bike--Get a Dog

#LovePalestine

Just wanted to let everyone know about an upcoming bike trip to Palestine.

I have been on it two times and it is a unique way to experience the Holy Land
and meet the very friendly folks of Palestine. George Snow runs the 8 day trip
two times a year and he has a special ability to make everyone feel included
regardless of their skills on a bike.

There is a van carrying extra bikes and plenty of water and one can ride at any time.
Some went on the tour for biking--there are some steep hills---and part of our group
went on the trip for religious, political or history reasons. My thing--the food is delicious
and I loved seeing the beautiful resorts, The Jordan river and The Dead Sea, etc. We
joined another bike group and toured the streets of Jericho along with the kids from a
local school. Just couldn't stand not seeing the issues of the Middle East for myself and
this was a perfect way to do it.

The terrain reminds me of Julian with Olive groves and almond orchards instead of apples.
We also visited the Taybeh brewery. The Banksy Museum and The Walled Off hotel in Bethlehem
is an eye opener. the next trip is in Sept. George is in Italy and he loves to answers questions.
The trip is also through the Siraj Center in Bethlehem. And by the way can you please stop
at the animal shelter of Diana George Babish in Bethlehem and bring home a dog as you
get ready to head out. I have a ton of pictures and here is a post from George
......http://theronnierepublic.blogspot.com/2018/08/be-pal-of-mine-in-palestine-bike_8.html

George is an excellent source of information as he has been teaching in Palestine for several years.

Baby Red Tail Hawks: Morley Field Dog Park, Balboa Park, San Diego

At the dog park:

Hard to see the birds but there were three in the nest.

The nest at the dog park has been there for several years.  Every day the birds put on a show learning to fly.

The lady love:
Coco the dog came from Mexico where she lived on her own.  She was stabbed and then she was rescued by Negar and Judy from Paws4Thought Animal Rescue in Bonita.

We are best friends now.

Recently visiting Palestine and noticing there are quite a few stray dogs in need of assistance.

There is a lady in Bethlehem and she is working very hard to help them.

Her name is Diana George Babish and she has an animal shelter there with very many lovely dogs that need homes.

Can you go over to Tel Aviv and pick one up.  It is actually cheaper than shipping them as cargo and Diana can easily provide all of the papers and a kennel.

Or just help to get the word out.

Their hardships are magnified by political and physical isolation.

here is a link to more info about them including her facebook page:

Thanks for reading......if anyone has any ideas about helping Diana please offer you suggestions.

8 Best Arab Teas and Their Benefits: from www.arabamerica.com on @TheRonnieRe #Love Palestine

8 Best Arab Teas and Their Benefits

POSTED ON: FEB 15, 2017
8 Best Arab Teas and Their Benefits
BY: Julia Jahanpour/Contributing Writer
Tea is a prominent part of Arab culture and society. For centuries, it has been served warm for guests, business associates, and at meetings and social events. A strong part of the cultural tradition, hot tea has brought family and friends together for hundreds of years. It is served before, after, and sometimes during meals. Tea is a precursor for gatherings, parties, and celebrations because it not only is considered a polite form of welcoming guests, but is also a healthy beverage.
Different Arab teas have unique properties. Some provide medicinal benefits, while others have sweet flavors and strong aromas that soothe and provide comfort. Unlike Western tea, which is often served very sweet and iced, tea in Arab countries is served hot with fresh herbs. The types of tea drunk throughout the Arab world vary just as widely as the people do.
Here are 8 Arab teas and their beneficial properties.

1. Sage (Maramia)

8 Best Arab Teas and Their Benefits
Native to the Mediterranean region, sage provides many medicinal benefits, along with an earthy, herbal taste. Known for helping with hot flashes, oral viruses, lymph nodes, and muscle tension, sage offers a wide range of remedies. The strong aroma of maramia can be smelled throughout an entire house, leaving everyone feeling better after just one whiff.

2. Chamomile (Babooneh)

8 Best Arab Teas and Their Benefits
A popular drink before bed, chamomile tea is decaffeinated, and known to cure insomnia and anxiety.  Highly calming, the dried chamomile flowers steep to a warm golden-brown, and can help with stress and minor aches and pains.

3. Anise (Yansoon)

8 Best Arab Teas and Their Benefits
With natural sweetness (think licorice), anise tea is loved for its unique flavor and calming properties.  What’s more, anise tea can also be used for upset stomachs, nausea, and hiccups. Natural digestive properties make this tea a great choice after eating large meals.

4. Thyme (Za’atar)

8 Best Arab Teas and Their Benefits
Great for the mind and stomach, za’atar tea helps improve memory and cleans out the stomach. Rich in antioxidants, this tea is also useful in preventing aging from within.

5. Cardamom (Hal)

8 Best Arab Teas and Their Benefits
Widely adored for its strong aroma, cardamom tea is very common in the Arab world. It is sometimes mixed with coffee and has historically been known to help with digestion and increase the flow of saliva.  It is drunk before meals to ready the enzymes for nutrients. Although one of the most expensive spices in the world, cardamom is still fervently harvested by hand for its many Arab customers.

6. Moroccan Mint Tea (Atay)

8 Best Arab Teas and Their Benefits
Atay is one of the most traditional teas in North Africa and prepared with mint leaves and sugar. Originally introduced by English merchants, the tea has spread in popularity throughout Africa, France, and other neighboring countries. Known to be invigorating and lively, the fresh mint used to prepare Atay helps cleanse the palate after meals, and is great for lethargic days.

7. Mint (Na’na)

8 Best Arab Teas and Their Benefits
Also well-known for its medicinal properties, mint tea is used commonly for getting over colds, sore throats, sinus congestion, and gastric ulcers. With high antioxidants and vitamins, mint helps boost immunity and health. Seasonal allergies can also be treated by drinking cups of  na’na tea due to rosmarinic acid, an anti-inflammatory agent found in mint. Minor aches and pains can be made better by the aspirin-like properties in mentha, even when consumed as a tea! Instead of adding the leaves directly to the tea, nana is made by boiling the fresh ground herb with the water.

8. Black Tea
8 Best Arab Teas and Their Benefits

Although not as beneficial to one’s health, straight black tea (think Lipton) is still incredibly popular among Arabs. Coffee actually takes second place to the caffeine levels of black tea, which can provide the drinker with longer-lasting energy throughout the day. Black tea can also help flush out the system of toxins, and with a little lemon, will aid in weight loss and appetite suppression.

Recently visited Palestine, fell in love with the food, particularly the tea.
Visiting The Palestine Wildlife Society and chatting with Imad Qumsieh about his efforts to educate children about the importance of helping the animals and conserving the environment with the philosophy that we are all living together to make the world a better place we enjoyed a cup of tea.
First we had tea with fresh Za'atar and then we had tea with a dried herb called Yensun.  It was delicious and trying to make it here in the U.S.
Not sure if "Yensun" is spelled correctly.
