Donald Trump: I'm going to go ahead and give the election to Hillary Clinton........

Trump: A joker in the GOP's presidential deck

"Some people," as Barry Switzer famously declared (rather oddly for a football coach), "are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple." And then there's Donald Trump.
Inheriting a $250 million fortune built by his father on government loans and housing contracts, Trump fell close to the family's corporate welfare tree. He now claims a net worth in the billions and cultivates the myth that he is a "self-made man."
His version of the story doesn't mention the government subsidies, the "too big to fail" debt (continually restructured by bankers who feared going down with him if he defaulted) or the multiple business bankruptcies.
So there stands The Donald on third base, hamming it up for the cameras and periodically awarding himself MVP trophies. Home plate, he's now decided, is the White House.
I have to hand it to the guy. Anyone who can go bust four times running casinos — casinos, for the love of Pete! — then suggest, with a straight face, that he's the man to bring fiscal responsibility and business acumen to Washington, deserves credit for sheer chutzpah.
Perhaps his descent into xenophobic rant is an attempt to distract attention from the weak "self-made man" narrative. Or maybe he's a Democratic mole. Either way, he's bad news for Republican prospects in 2016 and beyond.
Trump's claim that a disproportionate percentage of Mexican immigrants are "criminals, drug dealers, rapists, etc." seems custom crafted to cost the Republican ticket double digit vote percentages.
The first problem with his assertion is that it's flatly false. As syndicated columnist Steve Chapman points out in Reason magazine, Mexican immigrant populations in the U.S. correlate to lower, not higher, violent crime rates. "If Trump wants to avoid rapists, here's some advice: Head for areas with lots of residents who were born in Mexico."
The second problem is that he's throwing a bomb, fuse lit and hissing, into the GOP's attempt to solve its voter demographic problem. White males (the party's "base") are a shrinking proportion of the electorate. Hispanic voters, on the other hand, are growing in number.
Smart Republicans understand this. At least three candidates — Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush — hope to move in at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. on the strength of significant Hispanic support.
There's a tightrope between the GOP's opportunistic devolution into Know-Nothingism since the days of Reagan and George H.W. Bush (who competed in 1980 for the title of "most open borders candidate") and an appeal to immigrant voters and their families.
And there's Trump, doing unicycle stunts on the tightrope, jostling the other performers' elbows, forcing the PR choice between supporting him, slamming him or trying to ignore him. It's a long way down and the ground below is very hard. Choose carefully.
The Republican Party has two possible political futures: In one, it gets libertarian on immigration. In the other it gives up its hopes for the White House not just in 2016, but for the foreseeable future.

It's  one-sided journalism.

In fact,  it is not journalism at all!

Talking about  George Noory of Coast to Coast  AM, nighttime talk radio, for constantly bashing our President.

What can be done......it is so offensive to me.

Writing a letter to Media Matters in search of suggestions..................

Just wondering if you know what to do about Coast to Coast AM.

I listen to talk radio all of the time and I have always listened to C2C in the night..  I do know that  most of the talk radio is right wing, for instance on my stations in the car, but I still love local and national talk radio for the news and to find out what is going on politically........I like to hear both sides of the issue.

I am quite offended by George Noory on Coast.....he bashes President Obama every evening and I do not understand it.

In the first place I do not listen to the radio in the night to hear a political debate but for something interesting as I go to sleep.

George certainly has a right to his political opinion but he is completely one-sided.

He often has on Jerome Corsi but he never has on someone that favors the dems....at least when I listen.

He went on Sat night re:   the world is going to  hell in a hand basket theme and then Sun he again had an Obama basher quoting the bible.  I basically guessed where the guy was going but then he  had to sneak in a statement making a derogatory reference to our President's name.

I happen to like the President and our country and it just  makes me sick......I have  written about it on my blog....the ronnie re but  what else can be done.

I am really  quite upset about the situation.

I will put this letter in my  blog....please tell me if you have any suggestions.

thank you for your time,

Chloe Louise

No, Wolf Blitzer has always been my top dog for the news, Ronnie, lead critic of the Ronnie republic news/talk radio blog replied when asked about the recent controversy over CNN's lead anchor.

He has always had that certain something.....that certain "it" factor, that certain Mick Jagger-esque debonair.....he is not afraid to tell the story like it is.

Wolf does not mind jumping into the news ring and putting up a fight to walk away with the facts.

Not that I would ever do that--I would never ever do that......Ronnie reiterated as his train of thought seemed to stray in the moment.

Actually, that is one thing Wolf and I have in common.......humility and strength.

I  don't know what it is.....maybe it's his name--but there has always been something there that made him a winner.

Not that I am about winning or losing or fighting but I just feel like Wolf Blitzer and I grew up on the same side of the street.

Well done, Wolf--I've got your back.

George Noory Leaves A Horrible Feeling In The Pit Of My Stomach: Is There Anything George Noory Will Not Sell?

From unusual medical advice to dating--George Noory sells it all.

Folks, is this a talk radio show about the paranormal or a platform for George Noory to make money--you tell me.

But sometimes, it is just not as interesting and entertaining as it used to be.

Baby owl at the Grape Street dog park in San Diego
Just wanted to say.....I really liked George Noory at first--I thought he was just great and polite because he let people talk and one could hear the whole story. Coast to Coast is a fine show because it can give a voice to the average person in the US.....it is just nice to hear what callers think--agree or disagree. To give people a voice is inspirational to me..............but what happened?

Just last evening he was going on again about how horrible things are in our country. He is very offensive to me.......it just so happens I like our President, Barack Obama, very much. I am proud of him and I am proud of our country. Yes, one can find very many things the government has done wrong but, in general, we have a great, leading nation with huge grand accomplishments. it is hurtful to me and depressing to hear endless interviews with guests promoting the right wing agenda. If he wants Jerome Corsi let him have the opposite view on with a equal time allowance.

If he would listen to the guest and act interested instead of promoting his financial agenda once in a while it would be refreshing.

You know, we did not know if Art Bell was really interested in his guest, but guess what....it sure seemed like he was.

Think back--Art makes us feel like his guest or caller has the most important information in the world and we better hear it for our own personal gain and data base.....it was fun

I realized I was enjoying Art's real old shows more than george's current shows.. that tells you something doesn't it.

Also, like every other real talented person....Art made it seem so easy....he never seemed angry at the guest.........there was not a political agenda with his show with an angry undertone.

Art Bell had a real gift and talent for running a radio talk show that was perfect for the evening.......the time of day for going to sleep or finding rest during the busy.

I can't wait for Art Bell to come back.....I do not hate George Noory but now I am looking for different listening in the night

...........................................................................

Just asking the question is trying to describe this post.............

Seriously, what is  Coat to Coast Am--the overnight radio talk show--suppose to be about anyway?

It is a talk radio show in the night chatting about paranormal, UFO's, weekly call-ins where talkers describe strange or interesting things that happen too them.

Has the  actual premise of the  show changed since Art Bell left and George Noory took over?

Perhaps, I am missing the point of the whole thing..........................

Your thoughts--agree or disagree................................

Thanks for reading.......cl

Just about  the best tasting lemon pound  cake out there.

The texture is a little different from traditional --but the flavor......oh,  my!

Check  out the link at the bottom of the page to read the comments on the Epicurious website.

With the mixer in storage and only brown sugar on hand the recipe was  cut in half to fit the  needs of the tiny crowd............it did deflate a bit as precautions were taken not to over bake based on the comments available.

the sour  cream lemon pound cake in a traditional loaf pan came out with unstoppable  flavor surrounded by crispy edges.

serving it with sour cream and brown sugar and strawberries..........a  sparkling surprise of flavor for an alternative to strawberry shortcake or just plain poundcake.

Now I would like to try that  orange pound cake that one commenter made every weekend........

PREPARATION

Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease 16-cup tube pan. Dust pan with cake flour; tap out excess flour.
Sift flour, baking soda and salt into medium bowl. Using electric mixer, beat butter in large bowl at medium speed until fluffy. Gradually add sugar and beat 5 minutes. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating just until combined after each addition. Beat in lemon juice and peel. Using rubber spatula, mix in dry ingredients. Mix in sour cream. Transfer batter to prepared pan.
