Seattle Plant Ecologist Michael Yadrick Talks Discovery Park and Restoration of the Reflecting Ponds.

Seattle Plant Ecologist Michael Yadrick Talks Discovery Park and Restoration of the Reflecting Ponds.

A very big honor to chat with Seattle Plant Ecologist, Michael Yadrick,  about Discovery Park and the Reflecting Ponds.

Walking past the Reflecting ponds each weekend one can easily see a project is under way.

There is a very large tubing diverting the stream flowing into the pond around it and then rejoining the water that continues to the stream below.

The sign tells us they are in the process of draining the pond in order to remove the Iris and restore the native plants.

In this podcast Michael tells us the history of this man made pond and the difficulty of maintaining this area in accordance with the city and the wishes of the Native Americans that inhabit the area.

Not only do we discuss the frogs and the ducks but Michael Yadrick tells us the history of the park and the plan and philosophy for the futre.

Thank you Michael, for taking time to chat with us today.

Dr. Sally Roesch Wagner Talks About The Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation and Their Anger Over The Texas Abortion Ruling

Dr. Sally Roesch Wagner Talks About The Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation and Their Anger Over The Texas Abortion Ruling

Many thanks to Dr. Sally Roesch Wagner for taking time to chat with the Ronnie Republic this morning.

She told us about the legacy of Matilda Joslyn Gage and her contributions to Women's Rights in The United States.

Dr. Wager is the founder and executive director of The Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation and Center for Social Justice in Fayetteville, New York.

Here she is in our podcast talking about the museum located at 210 E. Genesee St in Fayetteville, New York, 13066.

The museum is located in the historic home of Matilda Gage.

Not a usual historic site, this museum allows kids to write on the walls, play with vintage dolls and try on the clothes of the day.

Agree or disagree, we can sit down with Sally for tea and cookies and talk about our differences.

Here is a link to the museum for more information:

Couldn't resist asking Dr. Wagner for her thoughts on the recent Texas ruling on abortion.

I'm pissed off and Matilda would be angry and fighting.

She goes into further detail in the podcast and does not mind holding Mitch McConnell's feet to the fire.

Her passion is beautiful and contagious and I feel so lucky to have spoken with her today.

Faisal Saleh Talks The Power Of Art At The Palestine Museum US

Faisal Saleh Talks The Power Of Art At The Palestine Museum US

Faisal Saleh Talks The Power of Art At The Palestine Museum US

We are telling the story of the people of Palestine through art and culture.

We not only showcase traditional art work but we also spotlight the cuisine, sewing and fabric art of the people of Palestine.

A huge honor to speak with Faisal Saleh from The Palestine Museum US to tell us the history of the museum, how they got started in Connecticut and their goals for the future.

We are trying to let visitors know about the lives of the Palestinians through the powerful visual medium of artwork as opposed to a constant political message.

When we watch the news we do not really have a chance to see the delicious food or folks just going on with the tasks of daily living.  Here we have a chance to remember that these are individuals--cooking and going to school or work, making friends and relaxing at home.

This is a different and exciting take on the current situation and it is interesting to see the lives of individuals from the focus of the tasks of daily living.

Since the COVID outbreak the museum has created a large and successful presence on-line.

There are new presentations every week.

Thank you, Faisal Saleh, for taking time out of your very busy day to tell The Ronnie Republic Radio Round-Up about your enterprise.

All of our lives will be enriched with this new knowledge.

Anti-Vax Trumpist Radio Host Dead of COVID

Let us see if anti-vax radio host, George Noory of Coast to Coast AM, will be reporting on this story.

He is ultra-conservative and gun toting--one wonders if he is hoping to be the new daytime or nighttime Rush Limbaugh.

There is nothing he will not sell, including vitamins to cure diabetes, but the problem is that the show has become just too boring and predictable.

Endless repitition of the same boring callers, praising George and promoting the usual rught wing bias.

Is it good listrening and informational?

The original premise of the show has suffered.

It is not intriguing and interesting as it was originally.

Your thoughts..........

The Angel of Beit Sahour: Diana George Babish

The Angel of Beit Sahour:  Diana George Babish

Working all day and often at all hours of the night, Diana George Babish fights to save the stray dogs and cats of Beit Sahour, about 5 minutes outside of Bethlehem.

As everyone knows Palestine suffers not only from political and physical isolation but the animals are also struggling just to find a home and food.

In difficult times for people and children the dogs and cats can be the last on the list.

In The West Bank there are not any humane societies or animal shelters.  There are not any programs to spay or neuter dogs and there is not any place for them to go when families are up-rooted.

Diana George Babish has established the only animal center and refuge for stray animals and injured animals in Palestine.

As a former banker working in Tel Aviv she definitely had the organizational skills to get her shelter going but there is a never ending need for donations, volunteers and a space to house these dogs while they are waiting to find a forever home.

The dogs are chipped, neutered, spayed and have received medical care.  Their papers are all in order to find a home all around the world.

One of the huge problems is finding homes and getting the word out about the need for fosters and her shelter.

She has been working very hard and diligently for many years to saves the lives of dogs in Bethlehem and the surrounding areas.  It is not uncommon for her to get a call in the middle of the night about a suffering dog, possible hit by a car.  Diana will always to go and get them and try to save their life, 24/7.

The Times Of Israel did a lovely job of showcasing her efforts.

Visiting The West Bank on a magnificient trip with Bike Palestine one could not help but notice all of the stray dogs just hanging around.

Trying to get the word out and find homes for these well-cared for dogs.

Pleaase fell free to share this post and jump in with any ideas.
