American Aairlines:  What Gives?
San Diego to Wichita:  Sunday evening--6 hours with a stop in Dallas/Fort Worth.

How in the world did my 6 hour flight turn into a 26 hour disaster.

What just happened?

The New American Airlines:  My flight from hell........

For starters we took off an hour late in San Diego--that would have been bad enough but the connecting flight in Dallas/ Forth Worth took off without us.

No direction to the connecting gate was provided--there was no information given--no heads up as to how to get there fast or they would wait for us or what to do in the event they did not.

So there we were in Dallas and told in no uncertain terms there were not be any more flights that day--no way in the world to get to Wichita and nothing could be done about it.

We were told we could stay at the cigarette infused Super 8 Motel and get 3 hours of sleep and be at the airport to leave at 7 AM the next day.  No apologies, no feeling bad about missing work, no sympathy about this dilemma with the "crew."

No choice, what to do, anger ensued:  schedules totally messed up thanks to American
Airlines.

Somewhere the "New" American Airlines advertising campaign does not hold true with the actual functioning of this unsatisfactory carrier.

Further anger and disbelief--no one really seemed to care.

7 AM, Dallas to Wichita by way of Denver.....Really!

Okay, there was no choice but to play along.

Weirder than weird, crazy and unbelievable the same thing happened again!

We missed our flight in Denver--again the fault of American Airlines.

Stuck in Denver we were forced into standby and what happened--we missed the flight again--no space available for stand-by.

Now, after a meaningful conversation with the gate personnel they gave us to United.

Home at 10 PM the next night--how did this happen.

What can be done.

Why did this happen--is it commonplace and can one be financially reciprocated in any way.

Never, ever, ever taking American Airlines again.

How do they get away with this stuff?

Looking for suggestions, comments welcome.

Does the average person getting on American Airlines know how they can wreck havoc on their schedule without the slightest interest or compensation?

Dallas/ Fort Worth is a large hub--isn't American Airlines a large carrier.  Wouldn't there have been an easier alternative for a flight to Wichita.  What consideration for the passenger goes into the decision and choice of alternate flights?
