Help Needed in Nominating Diana George Babish for CNN Hero--Only 2 Days Left to Nominate

Trying to nominate Diana George Babish for a CNN Hero.

This will recognize her very hard work with the Bethlehem Dog and Cat shelter in Beit Sahour.

I keep nominating her but after I click on 'Submit' I am not getting the 'Thank you for your submission' page.

According to the FAQs page one should get the 'Thank you' page to ensure the submission has gone through.

Can you please try to nominate her to ensure the information is going through and she can be considered for a CNN Hero.

Here is my information.  Anyone can copy it or use it in any way or perhaps others have better information to use and share.

Just Google CNN Hero and the nomination page comes right up.  I think they have many nominations.

Tell us about your nominee:

Integrity and hard work can be Israeli or Palestinian.

Want to tell you about my friend Diana George Babish and her dog and cat shelter in Beit Sahour, about 5 minutes outside of Bethlehem.

She works tirelessly 24/7 to go out and rescue injured dogs and cats.  She has the only animal shelter on The West Bank that she started herself after retiring from a career in banking.

There is not a Humane Society or animal shelter there and many dogs and cats are left on their own.  Many times they have been injured and are left to suffer alone.

The cool thing about her work is that she has help from both sides of the aisle politically.  There are many folks in Palestine and Israel that work hard to help Diana find  homes for these dogs and cats.

They take them in, give them medical care, obtain all of the proper papers, give them microchips and they are also spayed and neutered.

I have been nominating this wonderful lady for several years and I am just wondering what words I can use so that her work will stand out among all of your other nominations.

Of course, they always need donations and volunteer help but it would be so fabulous if she could be selected because one of the huge issues is just getting the word out so your notice would mean a lot as far as letting folks know these dogs are available and need homes.

It is true they are isolated physically and politically but the shelter works basically the same as any other dog shelter.  I lived in San Diego and many folks go to Mexico and get stray dogs to rehome.  It is the same thing but instead of 30 minutes the dogs and cats can fly attached to a volunteer person from Tel Aviv to anywhere in the world such as Italy, Canada and the US.

As I said, there are volunteers on both sides that help this process take place and they have been doing it for several years.

If you would select Diana it would show the world that there are many folks, everyday people, working at a grass roots level for the betterment of mankind and helping animals.

It often seems that everything in Palestine is just war torn but there are plenty of individuals there just working and going to school.  Yes, they do have to endure many aspects of the conflict but here is one good deed that many might find unexpected.

Accomplishments and Impact:

Diana has worked very hard to teach the people of this area the importance of treating animals in a humane way.  There are many reasons animals can be neglected in this area.  She often goes to schools to try and educate children about new ways that can benefit donkeys, dogs and cats so that these animals will not suffer.  She also helps people that are in need of food and assistance.  I have included many examples in the links provided.  Diana also helps at the Palestine Wildlife Society which is right next door to her place.  They do a lot of work with wild animals and assist farmers with livestock and shepherds.  Thank you for reading and if you know any way I can promote Diana and her work please let me know.  Thank you, Sherry McDowell
