Sewing with Al Sharpton at 3PM and Blogging the Newsbusters

Sewing with Al Sharpton at 3PM and Blogging the Newsbusters.......it's a tough job but someone has to do it.

It took a lot of thinking to reply and thank you for your beautiful response.  Actually I did not watch Rev. Al Sharpton too often as it did not fit in my day schedule, but after Bill kept berating him I became more curious, even though I basically did enjoy Rev. Al and liked him.

I also watch Chris Matthews each day on MSNBC so I changed my routine so I could see what was going on.  Well, as a dem I did like his show and then as time passed i noticed Reverend Al Sharpton was quite an inspirational and humble individual, as I just kept casually listening to his words.

He has said he has made errors and he is sorry about that, he has said he likes to keep fighting for civil rights not just about race but about anyone that has been judged unfairly and he also used Gandhi and non-violence as a model.

He is also quite inspirational talking about his diet and like me, he did not have a dad and he really enjoyed and valued the attention he received from James Brown.

I do not know if you listen to the Jesus Christ Show but like that radio show on Sun mornings right before CBS Sunday Morning, Rev Al has offered me a certain peace--not just talking about politics but about life, in general.

I do not think anyone could say he has not worked hard for civil rights--agree or disagree--and it is a wonderful thing to have the first African-American President in the White House.  I imagine he was very proud to go to the state dinner.

On that idea, alone, regardless of political affiliation, can't Bill O'Reilly, Levin and others be happy for Reverend Al and other people that are simply so happy about President Obama.

For Bill O'Reilly to constantly try to minimize the effects of past racism in America is just not right or realistic.

Just in South Africa in recent times people have suffered.

Not talking about politics, now, but shouldn't we acknowledge this injustice just as Jesus would have noticed these situations.

So again, why does Bill constantly have to rant about his hatred of Reverend Al Sharpton and call him a thug.  It is hurtful to me.

Again, Bill is acting like an arrogant teenager in the ilk of Eddie Haskell who cannot come to terms with life.

This is where I am coming from........

and now I have Sewing with Al Sharpton at 3PM and

the tea party with Chris Matthews at 4.

Bill O at 5, finish with

Piers Morgan at 6 and then the

big dog walk at 7.........unless Ronnie starts bugging me earlier then everything gets all messed up.

Yes, I do find the words of Al Sharpton to be soothing.

I hope you respond      and thank you for your discussion.

Bill O'Reilly: Just plain wrong on the facts

Love the story....Bill has been going on about Oprah and this is the second African-American lady who told a story recently about being treated poorly in a store because they were not dressed properly, but they let it go and moved on---well......exact opposite....one time in Tiffany's in Palm Springs I strolled in with baggy shorts, flip-flops, tee-shirt.  Right, I thought I looked just fine but after I left the store I saw myself walking by a shop mirror and was horrified at my legs--flabby, shorts way too thin and short, frizzy hair and a stained tee-shirt that was not at all shappy but baggy.

What's my point--the man in the store must have spent 30 minutes telling me about the color of diamonds, how diamonds were graded and  Tiffany's diamonds compared to others and what it meant to actually have a "Tiffany" diamond even though they may be more expensive comparatively.

It doesn't add up.  We are not on the same level playing field.  Also--racism--white children, from a middle class school will not be beat up for gang affiliation.  That will never be in that kids repertoire of memories.  Again, Bill is dead wrong on his facts, as he often accuses Al Sharpton of whom he has an unhealthy vendetta against which reveals his racism and hate for others he feels are of a lower level than him, women and minorities.  But that is another story for another time.  Bill, is again and as usual, wrong......cl

Chris Christie: Republican Rock Star rush, bill, sean: out of their league and out of their mind

I think and I hope Chris Christie is going to be a breath of fresh air for the Republican Party and he is definitely a leader.  Rush had to stop talking about Sarah Fluke once President Obama stepped in and spoke about women  The problem, in my ROWG neighbors, for instance, they love Rush and say he is just so funny and about the climate--they think Rush is the news.  I know because they often quote Rush to me.  But, LZ, who won the election?  That is what Bill O'Reilly and his sinking ship of fools forget.  The voters are a beautiful coat of many colors and President Obama is the President of all of the citizens.  Bill is code for Race, just like you are explaining, but that is not going to work any longer--his rant on Al Sharpton is getting into the insane category--he is out of his league and out of his mind.  He cannot handle the fact that Reverend Sharpton has had very soothing words for people that were very hurt by vigilante justice on a kid and now we have people in power who can change those unfair laws like Eric Holder.  Yes, you described it perfectly, O'Reilly makes me sick but I do think Chris Christie has jumped ship from Rush, Bill, Ann Coulter and the rest of their sinking ship of fools.  Bill keeps saying he represents the average guy, but I have news for him---the average guy voted and Barack Obama is President.  Now, any republican that wants to have the slightest chance against Hillary will have to distance themselves as far as possible from the old school freaks.

At 25, Limbaugh show still rules GOP

Rush Limbaugh, conservative and influential radio talk show host, makes a point.
Rush Limbaugh, conservative and influential radio talk show host, makes a point.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • LZ Granderson: President Bush in 1992, seeking Limbaugh's support, carried his bags
  • GOP has been Rush Limbaugh's bellhop ever since he got influential, he says
  • LZ: Rush throws around half-truths and insults. Some are disgusted, others entertained
  • LZ: But it's destructive when people, politicians make him some sort of spokesman
Editor's note: LZ Granderson is a CNN contributor who writes a weekly column for CNN.com. The former Hechinger Institute Fellow has had his commentary recognized by the Online News Association, the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. (CNN) -- If you want to know why there's little cooperation in Washington these days, I'd start with a campaign promise made in 1988 by presidential candidate George H.W. Bush.
"Read my lips: No new taxes."
So, when he raised taxes two years later, quite naturally, voters, particularly conservatives, were upset.
If you want to know why so little is being accomplished in Washington these days, I'd start with that broken promise and what Bush did in an attempt to get those conservatives back.
He carried Rush Limbaugh's bags.
That's right. In 1992, President Bush invited Limbaugh for a sleepover and personally brought his guest's bags into the Lincoln bedroom for him
LZ Granderson
LZ Granderson
They were not friends.
In fact, Limbaugh didn't care for Bush that much, and "41" knew it. But Bush was seeking re-election. He was saddled with a slumping economy and locked in a tough battle with Gov. Bill Clinton and businessman Ross Perot.
He believed he needed Rush Limbaugh.
The party has been carrying Limbaugh's bags ever since.
So, if you want to know when Washington became so polarized, maybe we should circle August 1, 1988, exactly 25 years ago. That was the day a satirical talk show host syndicated his act and, in the process, made a lot of money and became one of the most influential figures in American politics today.
Joyner: Limbaugh shouldn't say N-word
Limbaugh: Conservatives lost gay marriage
"Have any of you heard of an individual by the name of LZ Granderson?" Limbaugh asked on his show in June 2012."Snerdley? He has not heard of LZ Granderson. Dawn, have you? Brian, have you heard of LZ Granderson? Prior to last night I had not heard of LZ Granderson."
Which isn't true.
In June 2011, Limbaugh brought me up on his show as well, going so far as to say, "You can blame me, LZ Granderson, all you want, and I'll take it."
It only takes a few seconds on "The Rush Limbaugh Show" website to find out those facts. But Limbaugh isn't on the air to provide facts, he's there to entertain. Many of his listeners understand that.
And many of them don't.
A 1994 New York Times article leading into the midterm electioncalled Limbaugh "a kind of national precinct captain for the Republican insurgency of 1994" and documented caller after caller legitimately asking the Mahi Rushie -- he calls himself that on occasion -- for guidance.
Not much has changed.
During the Affordable Health Care Act debate, callers were actually asking Limbaugh, a shock jock in the mold of Howard Stern, what was in the bill. He even threatened to move to Costa Rica if it was implemented, which seemed counterintuitive, considering Costa Rica has universal health care.
But it's moments like that when you remember that Limbaugh's purpose isn't to provide thoughtful political discourse. It's to vent on his listeners' behalf, to appeal to their censored side. The side thatwants to hear a white man say "nigga" in public or call a woman a "slut" without getting fired.
If that makes you laugh, then he's doing his job.
If that disgusts you, well that's his job, too.
Limbaugh has had us on this yo-yo since the moment he assumed the role of Gabriel in the Kingdom of Reagan 25 years ago. Back then, it was only offensive, because he was the party's megaphone, warning listeners about the impending invasion of welfare queens with his mixture of righteous indignation and half-truths. It became destructive when listeners and politicians alike made him its spokesman: a pseudo-politician free from the burden of actually having to do anything.
Like use facts.
In rebutting the legitimacy of climate change, Limbaugh once told listeners the United States had more acreage of forest land today than at the time the Constitution was written. That wasn't true, of course, but it sounded good.
Not too long ago, he read what he believed to be passages from Obama's senior thesis, passages that expressed a disdain for the U.S. Constitution. Sadly, the whole thing was made up by a blogger. And while Limbaugh did sheepishly tell listeners what he had read earlier was false, the host still found a way to justify reading it by saying, "We know he thinks it."
Some folks eat that kind of stuff up.
Some get riled up about it.
And the folks in Washington? Well, after 25 years, they're still not quite sure what to do with it or him. If you're a Democrat, do you ignore him? If you're a Republican, do you carry his bags? I imagine it's like that feeling you get when someone tells you something that you can't determine is a joke or not. You just stand there half-smiling like an idiot.
So, if you want to know what the folks in Washington are doing about the economy, I'd start there.
The opinions expressed in this commentary are solely those of LZ Granderson.

Up With Anthony W, Down With O'Reilly

Sex is good, hate is bad.........

Hello and how are you today?

I could care less about phone sex between two willing adults, married or not............but I do care about public hatred on display.

Does anyone know what to do about the horrible hatred of Bill O'Reilly?

I like to write about O'Reilly and Reverend Sharpton and it is probably obvious that I am a dem and I really like President Obama.

I sometimes watch O"Reilly for comic relief but lately with this whole idea of the President Obama talking about Trayvon Martin and the national conversation on race has really set O'Reilly off into many rants, as you well know and have reported, about race and I guess he feels he can solve the issue in 15 minutes.

But now, his endless rant on Al Sharpton is becoming disgusting--I can't stand it.  He is bordering on insanity.  I think, just my opinion, he has a deep hatred and disrespect for everything of color and he is definitely a racist.  I think he was always code for racism but now his very true colors are showing.  I don't know if he will eventually go off the edge completely but I suspect not because he loves the podium of his show.

I almost can't watch him any longer--even for writing material.  He's gone insane--and his hate for Al Sharpton is so over the top he almost makes me sick.  It is like he is taking his whole hatred for everything of color, including Muslim, and piling it all on Al Sharpton.  His exuberance in deriding Al Sharpton is really getting too much for me to handle--I'm cringing when I watch him.

The thing is, if you actually listen to Rev. Sharpton he has very soothing words, as a Reverend would,  and he tries to be encouraging without violence.  Last evening he cited Ghandi and Martin Luther King and humbly stated he is still evolving.

It's like he doesn't even want Al Sharpton to talk--he just wants him to go away just like the one juror describing Trayvon Martin--he should have just gone home.

I've been at the dinner parties at the rich neighbors, the ROWGs that love Rush, and heard the comments between martini sips about what should happen to different cultures; it's not very nice and I won't repeat it here but I do know what some people think--I used to hear it from my grandfather, too.

Well, what do you think?  Can anything be  done about this guy--he is so full of hatred.

Just my idea for a story or what, I don't even know, but I think something should be done.  Maybe President Obama should say something like he did to Rush over Sarah Fluke--that stopped him in his tracks.  Maybe people should approach the advertisers of Fox News re: the O'Reilly show.

Not to mention he is laying waste to the republican party and encouraging racism in the United States and misrepresenting us to all the advanced nations of the world--it's embarrassing.

Another thing--Bill went on CBS and tried to say he is the only one looking out for the average folks.  He can't seem to understand the average folks are a beautiful coat of many colors.  That is and always has been the history of the United States.  If anyone is speaking to the average folks it is Reverend Sharpton.  During those horrible events in Cleveland the neighborhood watch men were being interviewed on Politics Nation by Reverend Al.  Oh  my gosh, they just started talking to him as if they knew him forever.  Seriously, Reverend Al is the person looking out for the average citizen, not Bill O'Reilly.

I really don't think that O'Reilly understands that President Obama won the election and he is of color and that is the make up of our country now; different people, other that Bill types are in power and have representation is high positions, such as Eric Holder, and more fair laws will eventually come to pass.

I guess like all bigots Bills is little and afraid, but it is starting to show in a way that is very uncomfortable to me.

Anyway, thank you for your time, I really do appreciate it and your very respected website and I do feel strongly about what I said--I think something definitely needs to be done but I do not know what and I hope you do.

Sincerely,

Chloe Louise, the ronnie republic

President Obama: What America Got Right

"Wonderful statement issued by Trayvon's parents thanking Pres for today's remarks. Their son's tragic death will not be in vain if we listen" Geraldo Rivera

Chloe Louise Geraldo, you did a real good job going against Bill, O'Reilly, the ugly American, the other evening talking about Al Sharpton.

In the first place, you spoke so eloquently and factually bill could not jump in and cut you off, his hallmark, and secondly, you were able to tell the story and make the complete statement and say nice things about someone who works hard for the average citizen.

Bill went on CBS and said he was watching out for regular working folks but in reality I think the person looking out for regular working folks is Al Sharpton.

Bill, started out by saying he was tired of Al Sharpton but you stopped him in his tracks.

I am convinced these right wing nuts, Bill and Sean, never even bother to listen to Rev. Sharpton, because if they actually listened and took in the information they would have to change their platform and that is what they do not want to do under any circumstances.

borrowing the words form the facebook website of Geraldo Rivera...........

Bill O'Reilly: Meet Al Sharpton

Talking about Al Sharpton........

this is when he seemed quite  impressive to me:

.....interviewing a group of advocates in Cleveland during the chaos of the three beautiful girls held hostage in the house of Mr. Castro for several years.  The men said "Oh, Hi, Reverend Al....." as if they knew him and they were on a first name basis.  The neighborhood group continued to talk to him without fear or nerves--they were able to say what they were thinking as if they were on equal footing with the Reverend.

Making the point that Reverend Al Sharpton does represent  and give a voice to a certain working class group of people, just the average citizen, of any color or social orientation that may not otherwise be heard.  He has a certain gift to promote conversation and receive information.

On the other hand.....Bill O'Reilly is so busy cutting people off he is interviewing he does not really get the scoop.  He doesn't get the get.....  When someone he does not like or is afraid of talks he can't handle it.  Maybe the person had something important to tell, good info; Bill will not know because he's too busy being arrogant...he does not listen.

or the more important question...is Bill O'Reilly capable of conversation.........

I would say this to Bill or anyone who criticizes Reverend Sharpton........

Perhaps you are not really listening to Al Sharpton, have you watched his show?  I do not watch him every day but often right before Chris Mathews, as time permits.

Have you read the opinions of the contributors to the news networks?  Many of them say the same thing, including Eric Holder....stand your ground is really not a fair law and not applied fairly.  It is hard for me to hear and believe that black fathers have to have a certain conversation with their sons about not running away from the police, including Eric Holder, himself, being stopped running when he was a federal prosecutor.

But not just for a certain culture or group of people, we do not want laws that allow vigilante justice on any kid of any color or any group.  Unfortunately, the kids do not always act correctly and have poor judgement or do not live in reality--the other thing I have noticed--the boys are huge and sometimes are quick to fight, and the girls, too. I am not talking about Trayvon Martin, but teenagers, in general--they are kids but we do not want them to die for it.

A little example:  Bario Logan, San Diego--the 12 year old boys were often beat up for gang affiliation where I worked; point being--that incident would never happen at the rich white schools.  That was shocking news to me and I have lived in middle class white San Diego forever.  So I guess it is true--we see the world through a white prism.

What language are they speaking............

The police were constantly questioning the kids, "What tats do you have, who do you back?"

Bill O'Reilly says he is representing the folks, but in reality Al Sharpton is probably more realistically representing the folks.  Bill said he is the watchdog looking out for the regular working guy--Bill...meet Al Sharpton.

Geraldo Rivera beautifully Defends Al Sharpton to O'Reilly

Geraldo Rivera beautifully defends Al Sharpton to O'Reilly and Bill almost "goes O'Reilly."

That would be this evening  on Fox News and The Factor.

Just wondering Bill, what actually is your problem with Al Sharpton?

Could it be Al Sharpton is able to talk with people and represent them well.  Could it be Reverend Sharpton has compassion and promotes non-violence but still keeps working tirelessly for equality for all.

Could it be Bill O'Reilly is completely out of touch.

If Bill would bother to really listen to Al Sharpton he would see that he has offered very soothing words to many people in this time of anger in our country.

To put it mildly--Al Sharpton is culturally sensitive--Bill is not.

Bill, you could try to listen and understand.  I dare you.  You could give Al Sharpton credit, but them you would have to admit there may be a problem with equality in our society.  We can work on the problem, you can too, Bill.  You may have to go away from your current platform and become enlightened.

Come on, Bill, you can do it.

Thank you Geraldo, that was a good job.

Geraldo Battles Bill O’Reilly Over Whether Al Sharpton Is ‘Exploiting Trayvon Martin’s Death’

VIDEO» 8 comments
Geraldo Rivera may not like how Al Sharpton‘slobbying forced the “weak” case against George Zimmerman, but on Bill O’Reilly‘s show tonight against the idea that Sharpton’s been exploiting the case and Trayvon Martin‘s death for his own benefit. They clashed a bit when O’Reilly continued pressing Rivera to give a straight answer on whether his motives are pure or not.
O’Reilly declared that people have had enough of Sharpton, showing a clip of him saying that Stand Your Ground laws need to be repealed in order to prevent future Trayvon Martins. O’Reilly told Rivera the perception of Sharpton is that he’s a “selective cherry-picker who’s doing this for his own self-aggrandizement.” Rivera defended Sharpton as the “premiere civil rights activist of the 21st century” and called him a fair man who brings national attention to important minority issues.
O’Reilly directly asked him, “Is he exploiting Trayvon Martin’s death or is he analyzing it in a fair way.” Rivera started to answer that Sharpton latched onto an issue that touched a nerve with the black community, but O’Reilly interjected to say he was “dancing,” pressing him further to answer.
Rivera allowed that Sharpton is “exploiting” the case in the sense that he is commercially bringing it into the limelight, but continued to defend his motivations in doing so. O’Reilly skeptically asked if Sharpton’s motives are pure. Rivera shot back that they’re “much more pure than you give him credit for.”
