Bill O'Reilly--Out of his League and Out of his Mind

I'll take Anthony Weiner or Eliot Spitzer any day over a yeller like O'Reilly.

Frankly, O'Reilly is not only code for racism these days but he is also conducting a war on women.

Women today deserve the right to chose over their own person--who, what , when where and gender--all of the options to be available to them including education and contraception.

Fully funded and planned parenthood--the women deserve the best--not an uniformed old yeller that refuses to listen to the facts.

About 20 years ago, Holland--condoms advertised on the Cartoon Network--right, noticed on a vacation--let the US catch-up.

Bill O'Reilly--out of his league and out of his mind.

Christie Is Facing Increased Pressure on Gun Bills

Last week, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed ten measures related to gun control, including some that are mildly controversial in the pro-gun community: one bill would mandate that New Jersey’s background-check system cross-reference the federal terror watch list, while another would call for the submission of New Jersey mental health records into the federal background check system.
But some crucial bills remain unsigned, including a “national model” for universal background checks, and a ban on .50-caliber weapons. Christie’s office told The Nation last week that no decision has yet been made on those bills—and this week, many of the national forces in the gun control debate are starting to ramp up the pressure.
Mark Kelly, the husband of former Representative Gabby Giffords and a leading voice in the gun law reform movement—not to mention a native New Jerseyan—penned an op-ed in the NewarkStar-Ledger today asking Christie to sign the bills:
Gov. Chris Christie and I have much in common.
We’re both straight-talking, no-nonsense sons of New Jersey who grew up in neighboring towns. We’ve devoted years to public service and protecting American communities. We have wives and kids we love dearly. I haven’t always agreed with everything he’s said or done, but I’d like to think we share a belief that we must prevent gun violence and also protect gun rights—and that there are moderate, common-sense policies that do both.
That’s why I’m asking the governor to sign the “centerpiece” gun safety bill sitting on his desk. The bill is simple and sensible: It would expand background checks on gun purchases and safety training for gun owners, and tighten penalties for letting guns fall into the hands of children. These basic measures are supported by just about every group you could think of: gun owners and non-gun owners, Democrats and Republicans and independents, business owners and faith leaders, law enforcement and medical professionals.
Meanwhile the Star-Ledger and another major newspaper in the state, The Times of Trenton, published editorials also asking Christie to sign the bills. The Star-Ledger editorial was particularly strong-worded and said “a veto would be a cynical blow to public safety, and a slap in the face of this state.”
As we noted last week, while Christie almost certainly won’t lose the gubernatorial election this fall, a significant amount of his political capital is invested in the idea that he has broad bipartisan appeal in a blue state. Anything that significantly dents his victory margin or poll numbers is a non-trivial threat to his political future—and in the general presidential election, should he make it there, a veto of universal background checks for gun purchases could be significantly damaging.
But of course Christie has to first make it through the GOP presidential primaries, and a majorityof self-identified conservative Republicans wouldn’t vote for a candidate with whom they disagreed on gun control even if they agreed with him or her on everything else.
So far, the reaction in the pro-gun community to Christi’s signing last week’s bills has been fairly muted.
Scott Bach, executive director of the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs, joined the National Rifle Association’s “Cam & Co.” show and declined to bash Christie for signing the measures.
Instead, he urged the audience to take a constructive approach. “It’s a little agonizing, after all this time and effort, to have these three bills dangling out there, but right now the message to gun owners is, keep contacting the governor’s office,” he said. “It’s pretty important right now that anyone who cares about this issue, anybody who wants to let Governor Christie know this is an important issue to them, if they’re looking at him as a potential presidential candidate, should weigh in with his office immediately and let him know to veto the last three gun bills on his desk. That’s absolutely critical right now.”
With crucial bills still unsigned, George Zornick writes about what is at stake for Christie and gun control debate.

Republican Big Dog Chris Christie is not Afraid of the NRA

Chris Christie is a leader, not a follower and not afraid.....

He has already shown he cares for the safety and welfare of the people of his state.  He is not afraid of the walking-dead branch of the republican party, the limbaugh-ites, or the NRA.  Many repubs admire him and as a dem, I admire him and his leadership skills, as well.

He is one of the most exciting figures on the political scene today.  In regards to the gun safety bill, I feel he will weigh the options carefully and sign in favor of the safety and welfare of voters of his state.  I know this much, he has already shown he is not afraid....and that definitely includes the NRA.

The Case of the Vanishing Angel Priest of the Missouri Highway.......

copied from the Daily Mail............

The riddle of the 'angel priest': Holy man appeared from nowhere to pray with trapped girl and rescuers in traffic accident, told them she would be OK and then vanished

  • Katie Lentz was hit head-on by a drunk driver on Sunday morning on an isolated stretch of Missouri highway
  • Emergency workers battled for over an hour to rescue her but they couldn't free her from the car wreck
  • Lentz requested a moment of prayer and a priest appeared - even though the road was blocked off
  • He prayed and told the rescuers that Lentz would now be freed - and she was
  • They turned to thank him - but he was gone
Pinned inside her mangled Mercedes, seriously injured and fading fast, Katie Lentz turned to her rescuers on the lonely open stretch of Missouri highway and asked them to pray.
Struck head-on by a drunk driver on Sunday morning, emergency workers had been battling for an hour and a half to free Lentz, but to no avail.
But as they joined hands a Catholic priest appeared, even though there were no bystanders and the road was blocked, who offered a prayer and an instruction to the rescuers that they would now be able to free her.
Suddenly, heavy equipment needed to cut through the metal arrived from a nearby town and Lentz was pulled from the wreck in time to be saved - but when they turned to thank the priest, he was gone.

'He came up and approached the patient, and offered a prayer,' Chief Raymond Reed told KHQA-TV.
'It was a Catholic priest who had anointing oil with him. A sense of calmness came over her, and it did us as well.
'I can’t be for certain how it was said, but myself and another firefighter, we very plainly heard that we should remain calm, that our tools would now work and that we would get her out of that vehicle.'
That is when officers from the neighboring Hannibal Fire Department arrived with their jaws-of-life and Lentz was pulled to safety and put into an air ambulance to hospital.
Turning to thank the guardian angel who had arrived from nowhere at their lowest ebb, the emergency crews could not find him.
The highway had been blocked for a quarter of a mile each end during the hour and a half rescue and no bystanders and parked cars were anywhere near the crash site on Highway 19 near Center.

'We would like to find this gentleman and be able to thank him,' Reed said.
'As a first responder, you don't know what you're going to run into. We have a lot of tools, and we have intensive training.
'In this particular case, it is my feeling that it was nothing more than sheer faith and nothing short of a miracle.'
Lentz suffered several broken bones to repair her legs, but her friends and family say that her spirit has been boosted by the apparent divine intervention.
'Both of her legs are very damaged,' Lentz's friend Amanda Wiseman said.
'Her wrist is broken, several broken ribs, so she's had a lot of broken bones to deal with.'

Chief Raymond Reed said rescue crews were struggling to cut through the strong metal of Lentz's Mercedes.
'It was a very well-built car, and when you compact materials like that one, they become even stronger because you're cutting through multiple things instead of one layer,' Reed said.
Reed says Lentz was pinned in between the steering wheel and the seat and the prayer was offered just as he was told by the paramedics that Lentz was failing.
'Where did this guy come from?' Lentz's friend Travis Wiseman asked.
'We're looking for the priest and so far, no one has seen him. Whether it was a priest as an angel or an actual angel, he was an angel to all those and to Katie.'

The driver of the other car in that accident, Aaron Smith, has been charged with a DWI, second degree assault and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
There are several Catholic churches in the area to Highway 19 - the nearest being St Paul's - however, the mystery priest has still not come forward.

Years ago,my van broke down and a man in a pick up truck pushed me into a hugh parking lot and got out of his truck and opened my passenger door.  When he saw I was pregnant, he said "Oh, I didn't know you were like that!" He then proceeded to look under hood and tell me it was the such and such and it couldn't be fixed there-I would have to go with him to get assistance. At that moment, this other man appeared and asked if he too could help. The first man quickly said "oh, let me go then " and jumped in his truck and drove away. I turned to the second man and he said "there is no such part as he told you in an engine. I looked away to watch the truck leave and when I looked back at the second man, there was no one there...I swear to God...I stood outside my van and looked around the entire hugh parking lot and there was no one there.  My van easily started and I went home. Hours later, I realized what had happened and how lucky I had been.  A few months later, a man fitting the description of the first guy was in the paper-he was found to be raping and killing women under the guise of fixing their cars when they wouldn't start. That was when I realized how generous God had been - to let me go home to my 2 small children and carry my 3rd. You can all be skeptical but I know what I experienced.

James Carville Explains the Facts of Life to Bill O'Reilly

O'Reilly "goes o'reilly"

I predicted this....It was just a matter f time before James took O'Reilly out.  Notice how James waits for  O'Reilly to trip himself up with his own stupid version of the facts.  O'Reilly should have known better than to go up against a fast talker like James Carville.

Good Job, James.

Thanks for explaining the facts of life to Bill O'Reilly.

now here is the real story from Slate.........

Bill O'Reilly's Brilliant Pregnancy Prevention Program, Featuring Jay Z

The glaring contradiction in conservative rhetoric between the hostility toward contraception and the endless hand-wringing about single motherhood so often goes unchallenged in cable news discourse that James Carville was able to get Bill O'Reilly to go into a rhetorical death spiral just by bringing it up on Thursday. O'Reilly was running his mouth with the usual race-baiting talking points that incorrectly assume that rising numbers of births to legally unmarried women means that huge numbers of women are raising children alone when he proposed that the federal government fund (with money!) a campaign to tell young women to stop having all of the sex. Carville took this as a fun opportunity to provoke O'Reilly's notorious dislike for contraception by pointing out that any kind of campaign to prevent unplanned pregnancy should include contraception and sex education.
Watching O'Reilly try to reconcile his "contraception is bad" position with his "stop having babies" position is delightful. First he attempted to deny that contraception, which he associates with sex, has anything to do with baby-making:
Carville: I think the idea that the federal government is going to tell a 17-year-old that you just wait and you don’t have sex—I don’t think that’s going to be effective.
O'Reilly: It has nothing to do with sex. It has to do with getting pregnant.
After Carville pointed out the fundamental problem with this argument, O'Reilly changed tactics, claiming that you can just go to Planned Parenthood and get contraception. When Carville noted that this is a funding issue—alluding to the fact that the anti-choice movement O'Reilly supports attacks any effort to make contraception more accessible—O'Reilly flipped out: "So, you don’t want peer pressure brought, you want to fund, fund, fund! More money, more money!"
He added, "Why don’t we just have the Good Humor man have contraception on the ice cream truck?" before giving more details about what his proposed "federal program" to discourage unmarried motherhood would entail: Having Jay Z tell young women not to have sex.
O'Reilly: It’s going to discourage! Actively discourage! Peer pressure! Jay Z, the multimillion-dollar man—have him get out and do a couple public service announcements.
Sadly, Carville did not have a chance to ask any of the pertinent follow-up questions, but I have a few: 1) Why does O'Reilly think that the 43-year-old Jay Z is a "peer" to the young women the Fox News star would dearly love to stop having sex? 2) If a federally funded Jay Z had dropped a line to O'Reilly in 2004 to discourage the then-married man from calling up a female colleague to invite her over for potentially pregnancy-causing activities, would that have stopped him? I'm not being flip. I just want to understand how this rappers-against-sex program is expected to work.
