Tamera Mowry-Housely Breaks Down Describing Racist Encounters

Tamera Mowry-Housely and Tia Mowry-Hardrict, Christian actresses and twin sisters, recently appeared on OWN Network's "Where Are They Now" where the former became emotional when speaking about the racism that she has encountered.

Mowry-Housely married her husband and Fox News correspondent Adam Housley in 2011. While Mowry Housely is bi-racial, her husband is a white man and the actress turned talk show host of "The Real" revealed that she has encountered some heinous comments because of the union.

"I've never experienced so much hate ever in my life. I get called, 'White man's (expletive),' the new one, 'Back in the day, you cost $300 but now you're giving it to 'em for free,'" Mowry-Housely said on the OWN program in between tears. "Stuff that, me as a person, could never even fathom. I can't even think of these words."

Since the Mowry twins were born to a black woman and white man, they have not viewed color as an issue when it comes to dating. However, Mowry-Hardrict married a black actor named Cory Hardrict while Mowry-Housely's decision has left people stereotyping her in an unflattering way.

"I grew up seeing a family. I didn't grow up seeing, 'ooh a blank with a white person!' So it's very shocking to go through this,"she said on the program. "This was the big one. They say, 'Oh Tia's a true black woman because she married a black man.' Oh? I'm lesser of a black person because I married white?"

Mowry-Housely stood up for husband and one-year-old son on the show.

"I love my husband so much. I love my family," she said on the OWN show. "I love our dynamic. I'm proud to be in the relationship I am in because it's based on love. Pure love."

To celebrate Valentine's Day last year, Mowry-Housely shared a letter dedicated to her husband who helped her prioritize God in her life. She said her husband's faith in God taught her to prioritize her creator to be first in her life.

"Your faith in God, in family and in life never cease to amaze me," Tamera revealed on her personal website. "You've taught me to set my priorities straight 1) God 2) Family 3) Work."

Finding Bill O'Reilly: He has a problem with strong black men

Right, trying to be respectful of Mr. O'Reilly, but asking if would not mind being respectful of us.

Well, yesterday I had the time of my life interviewing N'DIGO's Hermene Hartman. Asking her for an interview after her appearance on The Factor this week--so honored and so proud--this bloggers dream come true.

Bill was outraged about Reverend Jeremiah Wright joining the teacher's union in Chicago to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Day.

It seemed confusing to me right off the bat because the teachers in the picture looked very happy to be with Reverend Wright but just like the memorial for Nelson Mandela, Bill could not resist raining on their parade.

Ms. Hartman was invited on the show to talk about the comments of Reverend Wright and his statements about President Obama.

Dream and Drone........

Reverend Wright mentioned Dr. Martin Luther King had a dream and President Obama had a drone and Bill fell to pieces over this.

Ms. Hartman went on to explain it was two different situations that were entirely opposite--two different careers with unequal goals.

But Mr. O'Reilly would not listen........

Yes, I do have a dog in the fight because I had the opportunity of speaking with Hermene Hartman. She took time to tell me her thoughts. She explained that she did indeed support both figures and gave examples of the government acting in ways that have hurt people yet we do have the opportunity to speak out. Like Jesus or Nelson Mandela or Martin Luther King Jr we are speaking out, changing laws and making the living situation better for everyone. We do have a great country.

Bill O'Reilly would not let her thoughts be heard--In fact, after watching the interview 2 times I felt as if he was acting smart and arrogant towards Ms. Hartman.

The Ronnie Republic wonders if Bill O'Reilly has an agenda?

Why does he say "no spin" endlessly and then spin--isn't that what he is doing by cutting her off.

If he agreed or disagreed with Ms. Hartman she certainly had good, interesting and thought provoking facts about the subject.

Hermene Hartman is certainly credentialed on the subject of Reverend Wright--she has worked on the Chicago newspaper for 25 years and actually knows Jeremiah Wright. Bill has been invited to the church but has not visited.

It seems like if Bill wanted the truth and the facts as he insists every single day he would have tried to listen and understand the concept of her statements.

Instead it was as if he was trying not to understand her words--as he was smirking....

Bill, you were out of line. Ms. Hartman did tell me it is politics and entertainment. She is a wise woman.

Bill was a wise horses backside. Just guessing......would this be something his "folks" think funny--one-up-man-ship.

Perhaps his mom should give him a discipline for trying to act smart at an others expense.

To this blogging person Ms. Hartman hit the nail on the head when she said I think he has a problem with strong black men......I couldn't resist asking her opinion on his unending angry rant on Reverend Al Sharpton.

The confusion persists..........

Noticing he was very compassionate towards Tia and Tamera Mowry after they told of receiving hate mail in regards to Tamera's interracial marriage with Fox News Reporter Hausley.

My take on the incident: Bil wants to be respected so bad but he is not really respectful of others. He was so afraid Sarah Palin was going to make a speech on his show he was reluctant to have her on but finally gave in--I am guessing for the success of his show.

Why does he invite someone on the show and then talk over them......

In fact, it would have been nice if he let Ms. Hartman talk but since he invited her on his show one must wonder if he used her as a back drop for his own speech and plan. Is he afraid he may eventually understand her point.

Reminiscent of a child with their hands over their ears refusing to take in the information.

Perhaps Bill can come to terms with our society as a whole. Is Bill a simpleton? Is Bill intimidated by strong women?

Paul Collins one of America's most outstanding muralist and photo realist artist finalizes his mural of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The mural will be installed on the West Side in the Lawndale community at the King Legacy Apartments. King moved on the West Side, 1550 North Hamlin, in 1966 to showcase Chicago's segregated housing. The new construction provides 45 units of affordable housing. The mural is unveiled in a private ceremony Monday, January 20th in celebration of King's birthday.

Translated it means Bennett will serve as a direct link in city government with external/internal partners. Ken is perfectly suited for the role. He has been on President Obama's staff with his initial run as Congressman to State Senate to U.S. Senate and to the White House. Ken has served in the White House and most recently as the Regional Representative for the U.S. Secretary of Labor in the midwest region. Everybody loves Ken. He is a real community organizer with roots at TWO and PUSH. Bravo.

Second, it was Angela Henderson, Acting Provost at Chicago State University She is taken to task for incorrect quotes on a doctorate she has worked on for 8 years with 5 academic advisers. Is it my imagination?

To commemorate Martin Luther King Day, a Chicago teachers union hired none other than Reverend Jeremiah Wright, who proceeded to condemn President Obama for his use of drones. The Factor debated the decision to invite Wright with magazine publisher Hermene Hartman. "You've said Reverend Wright is anti-American," Hartman protested, "but that's not true. He has pointed out 'bad America' - dropping bombs on people and slavery is 'bad America.' He's not saying anything wrong. America is a great country, but has been a bad country in some instances." The Factor insisted that Wright is a serial America-basher: "If you listen to his sermons, you come away with him saying America is a bad nation. Every country has done some bad things, but according to Reverefrond Wright it's all bad and nothing good."

So very, very honored to speak with Hermene Hartman today about her appearance on Bill O'Reilly, Fox news, last evening, Jan 15, 2014.

Burning with questions:

Why did you go on the show?

HH: I was invited and I welcomed the opportunity to talk about Reverend Wright and I wanted to correct some misconceptions.

Were you afraid?

HH: No.

HH: I feel like Reverend Wright has been misinterpreted and misquoted.

Could not resist asking about her credentials compared to O'Reilly on this particular subject.

HH: I am a former sociology professor but I have been working for the newspaper for 25 years. In the past Bill O'Reilly has been invited to the church of Reverend Wright but he refused to visit.

Hermene Hartman said I welcomed the opportunity to talk about race but Bill O'Reilly should let the people actually answer the question if he wants the true value of their statement. He has got to let the person speak or he is not really understanding what they are trying to say.

Hermene Hartman wanted to talk about the perception of race and the perception of Jeremiah Wright.

She said in the show she does support President Obama and Reverend Jeremiah Wright but their statements have been misinterpreted by Mr. O'Reilly--he is missing the true value of their statements.

Reverend Wright is trying to say that America is a great country but there have been wrong acts committed by the government on the issue of race, gays, women's rights and during the time of war.

I would definitely include in this the Japanese concentration camps during World War II.

Ms. Hartman mentioned the bombing of Nagasaki as a wrong and unfortunate act along with rules of segregation which existed in the past.

I felt like Ms Hartman wanted to promote the idea that while we love our country it is okay to talk about and define acts by our government that have hurt others and particular segments of the society. She was not saying she did not like America or disagree with the policies but to acknowledge mistreatment of others by the government if it does, in fact exist, is a good thing.

In the long run it is a good thing to talk about it.

The question: Would Mr. O"Reilly agree or disagree if he had actually let her talk and receive the true value of the statement of Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

The United States has done things and made rules that are not correct for women, gays and involving race and people of color--we are making a lot of changes in our laws now.

We are in a free country and allowed to speak--that is one of the great things about the United States. This philosophy lets progress take place.

Like Nelson Mandela, Dr.Martin Luther King and Jesus, Reverend Wright would like to challenge these incorrect acts.

Everything today is not hunky dory but we are making progress according to Hermene Hartman.

I could not help but ask Ms. Hartman how she felt about Bill O'Reilly's constant angry rant on Reverend Al Sharpton.

HH: Bill O'Reilly does seem to have a problem with strong black men--it is also a matter of politics and entertainment.

I said.....do you know Reverend Wright and what would you like people to know about him?

HH: Reverend Wright is a brilliant man and a scholar and he is not afraid to challenge things that are incorrect in our country. He is not afraid to call it as he sees it. He is a very nice man.

HH: Bill is taking Reverend Wright out of context.

She also said in the past Mr. O'Reilly has indeed been invited to the church of Reverend Wright but he has not come. She went on--he is welcome to come to the church and see what is going on and find out what Reverend Wright is all about. Ms. Hartman felt like O'Reilly really did not have all of the facts to properly speak about Jeremiah Wright.

I concluded by asking her what do you think of race in America today.

HH: We have definitely made progress. We do not have laws of segregation as we did in the past--but whether we like it or not race and prejudice is ingrained in our society. In the past Dr. King spoke of total integration without prejudice but she thinks now it is more reasonable to go with the idea of Nelson Mandela--to live in a race free society by acknowledging that race exists. We have perceptions and prejudices that are going to last for a long, long time--it cannot be ignored.

She gave the example of Trayvon Martin--the rules have changed but he was killed on perception. The law is now that anyone of any color can legally go into any neighborhood or area of town. The perception has not necessarily changed and Trayvon Martin was murdered on the idea he was not really supposed to be there--even though that was his home.

It was wonderful to see you on the The Factor and hear your take on Reverend Wright and President Obama.

Ms. Hartman said that I may also visit the church and I am very excited about that--not to mention I love Chicago.
