Here is a comment today.  It is very nice talking about the famous Arthur of Kensington Palace.

Just wondering if any one out there has an update as he is very popular.

Hello,

We used to see Arthur in Kensington Gardens every week, we haven't see him for a year, does someone knows something about him?

Thank you Chloe, good initiative :)
My partner used to talk to him, he was by the Palace almost everyday, but we haven't seen him since the last winter. Let's hope he is fine.
Take care.

These pictures were taken approximately 2 years ago during the refurbishment of Kensington Palace prior to the wedding of William and Kate.

The older gentleman in the photos is Arthur, he has been going there and chatting with the squirrels for many years.

He said that Princess Diana used to go jogging in Hyde Park in the mornings and occasionally they would have a little chat.

The tour of the Palace was very cute and informational with girls dressed in period clothing and reenacting daily living that would have taken place there during different periods in history.

Arthur was a brilliant ambassador for London...it was so fun to chat with him as I was there on my own.

Wishing the best to Arthur.

President Obama: History will view him as a kind compassionate man

talking abou the previous post from max stan from politico:

this is so well said I will copy it and put it in my blog...the ronnie republic...I wish I could write like that.

President Obama will go down in history--not just as the first Aftrican-American President--but as someone who has included a new group of people in the political conversaiton.  My teacher said--it used to be--just the rich old white guys were the only ones making the decisions but it is not that way any more.

President Obama went even farther and included women, handicapped, low-income....all kinds of people that had previously been talked at or talked about or talked to once in a while.

Now, everyone is part of the political conversation of the United States of America.

And guess what--these people vote, also....in fact, they are the majority of voters.

The dinos and "the folks" Bill meets that he is so busy looking out for do not make up the voting majority of our country.  President Obama knows this.  That is why he is the President and Bill is not--he couldnever be because he does not represent most of the people.  On his meet and greet portion of his tours, his gig with Dennis Miller, the tickets are 500 dollars...that was the price in San Diego.

As evidenced every evening, to many except himself, the man is out of touch with reality.

The problem---he is dangerous because he uses his podium to stir up fear for his own gain when he could use it to give out needed information.

Another important point is that empathy is not the same as personal experience and most people understand that if at least by intuition.

Even if Obama or Ghandi, or O'Riley or whoever didn't have the same life experiences as person BLANK it doesn't mean they can't understand what they've been through.

Sure Obama's life is very different than many black youth growing up in rough parts of America (for starters he's 50 + years old) but as far as those communities are concerned he's lived his life in a way that is sufficient to display a great deal of empathy for them and their struggles.

After all, despite what you may think of him, you have to recognize that in his early twenties right out of some pretty good colleges with a but load of charisma and intelligence he decided to go into community organizing in America's crumbling inner city in the 1980's when they were (by all objective measures) a lot grittier than today.

People like to vilify him for community organizing but when you're a 20 something and it's the go-go 80's where all of the action and power playing is happening on Wall Street and corporate America it says a lot about empathizing with the less fortunate for you to pass all of that up for what especially at the time was a rather thankless job. Let's try to remember that despite our personal bias most people very high up in politics did in fact get into it because they care about people, even if you think they are wrong on everything else (I even admit this about GWB who I can't stand).

my letter to Zeke Emanuel re: Bill O'Reilly

Right...you were great on o'reilly.

I like to write about him in my blog:

the ronnie republic.

But here is what I wanted to say....I was a nurse forever  in the OR here in San Diego.  This is what the people out there do not realize....we had a spinal surgeon who partially owned the screw company--the implants he put in the patients back every day.

Then we had this so called podiatrist who really did not know how to do surgery.  He used gelfoam and thrombin on rotting feet.  Sorry--I know it was not a pretty picture.

I think he was ripping off medicare but no one would say anything.

There were 3 anesthesiologists who made statements as in:

he should be reported,

he has a little thing going on here.

I finally reported him to the 800 number for compliance.  He had a consent from a different hospital one day.

In retrospect everyone knew it but no one would say.

Then the manager told me I should come to work and be more happy because I think they had to do something about it at that point.  I did not know what to do--I did not want to lose my job......because I am always under the gun for being too slow.

Anyway...the dangerous thing about Bill is that is his whole thing....what you said...stirring up fear unnecessarily.

If you really listen to him he will take on any subject and instead of trying to explain it he uses the opportunity to stir up fear.

It's scary....ted nugent scary....he wants to rule the world if he could have the opportunity but of course he cannot because he really does not know what he is doing.

He hurts others and our country, which he claims to love so much, for his own gain.  If you really listen to him.... sometimes I think he is an old school white racist or an old school guilty Catholic--I can't decide.

He hates President Obama because he is cool and hip and cute and helping people...Bill hates that because he can't beat that and he can't do anything about it.  Bill has lost the fight but he hasn't quite realized it yet.

President Obama will go down in history not only as the first African-American President but also as the first President to include all of the people in the political conversation.  All of these people that were only talked about and talked at, as Bill continues to do, are now included and talked to, talked with...by our President. This is a fabulous thing and it cannot be denied.

All of the people that were previously left out have now been included in the conversation of America by President Barack Obama.

The crushing realization for Bill and the other old rich white guys--there are more of these voters than Bill's "folks."

Thanks for letting me talk.  You are doing a good job.

Now I have community or medi-cal here in SD because I broke my leg--it is one of those clinics Bill referred to and it is the best health care I have ever had.  I love it.  The doctor and the dentist.  Bill should visit a "for profit" OR and see how it really works.

Thank you for your good job.

Meet Me at The Ritz

Let's meet at The Ritz for brunch:  first we'll have Ramos Fizz and then we'll talk politics.......

Have you seen Yahoo Food: Featuring Garbonzo Beans--Spicy Roasted

study published yesterday in the scientific journal “Cell Metabolism” links overconsumption of meat and cheese with bad health.
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR.
This “news” can be filed under Things That Have Been Super Obvious for Decades. The specifics of the study’s findings are as follows: People between 50 and 65 years old whose diets are high in animal protein are 74% more likely to pass on early than those who either consume less animal protein or who get their protein from plant-based sources. (Why does it cut off at 65? Because seniors have trouble getting sufficient protein, so they’re urged to up their consumption. Go nuts, guys!)
It’s a reminder we could all use, no matter our age, to diversify the sources of our protein intake. “The evidence is overwhelming and incredibly consistent that people who eat plant-based products have a reduced risk of death,” Dr. David Katz, director of the Yale University Prevention Research Center, told ABC News. You can eat meat andcheese, just in moderation. For all those other meals, here are some suggestions:
image
This could be a snack or a salad topping—and honestly, we’d mash them on toast, too.
image
Quinoa, the wonder grain, is packed with protein. Also: asparagus!Spring is coming!
image
Throw pepitas on a salad for texture or grab a handful for the road.
image
Almonds are another great option.
image
It’s time to make tofu a consistent part of your diet. And it’s no sweat! The soybean product takes on the flavor of whatever you serve with it.
image
Peanut butter is high in protein, and yes, there’s some in thisbreakfast smoothie!
image
See? There’s a little bit of cheese on there! Go for dried beans so you can control the sodium levels.

from N'DIGO: Do the Democrats Take the Black Vote for Granted?

NDigo-LogoTag-blue1
vote answer 3 xlarge

Do the Democrats Take the Black Vote for Granted?

In the City of Chicago the Republican Party, doesn’t exist for all practical purposes. In the State of Illinois only because of downstate are there real Republicans.
Democrats assume that Black voters will vote in mass for the party because of its history. All of the black eggs are in one basket. Why are Blacks in Chicago and Illinois so loyal to the Democratic Party? It goes back to the days of William Dawson and Mayor Daley. The lock is on. The Democrats have been the party of ease, embracing Black causes and candidates. The Democrats have presented the best Black opportunities . The late Mayor Daley not only courted the Black voter, he trained them with an army of precinct captains. The election of President John F. Kennedy was won from South Side voters.
I suggest as the world is rapidly changing we need to reconsider. It’s almost like there is a Holy Grail or an unwritten rule that if you are Black you vote Democratic. Well now, here’s a question, for African American voters, what have the democrats done for you lately? Some Black neighborhoods look like war zones, black businesses are troubled and we don't get a fair share of government business. Black men are jailed and the educational system continues to produce failures. The crime rate is high because we lack protection. When do we demand something for our vote?
1Black Voter 4
Black southern voters of yesteryear.

The Precious Vote. . .

. The vote is precious and powerful. No other ethnic group in America has worked harder for the vote than the African American. We have died for the right to vote paying horrific social penalties to include marches, water hoses, jailings, burning properties , lynchings and even murders. Blacks have united in a resounding voice to cast the vote. We don’t bargain or leverage a collective power. We don’t ask the politicos to work for our vote. It’s time to take another look. The Democrats in essence ignore us until election time, and then they take a church tour. The Republicans don’t even bother to court the Black voter, consequently Blacks are left in the wind - taken for granted by one party and ignored by another.
So, how about change? How about a new dynamic? Take a look at the Black economy. There is an invasion of foreigners in our neighborhoods. There are few restaurants. The Koreans dominate the Black hair care industry from the hair stores to the product. Cleaners are Asian controlled. Eastern Indians monopolize the Dunkin Donuts for coffee; donuts and ice cream. The Arabs own the gas stations and ma and pa corner stores. And then there is the nail shop with not one Black manicurist. The rest of the Black economy is left to the large chain stores. The fast food franchises dominate creating obesity and poor diets.

The Opportunity. . .

black-early-voter-thumb-400xauto-13876
There is a lot of opportunity for the Black voter, only if the Black voter would demand it.. I am one to believe in the man or woman rather than the party. People run on their records, credentials and plans. If the political process is to be true to the democracy and the republic the Black voter should consider both parties to bring about a simple respect and to put a high value on the vote.
The Black voter needs to consider its vote in full measure and have the politicians court the vote rather than take it for granted or ignore it.
