Art Bell: The Smooth Talker is Back
The smooth talker is back and it is great to hear his voice...........
He is real talented at late night talk--he does not carry anger which comes through in his voice.
Art does not have a political agenda and is unbiased and he has the unique ability to make every guest and caller seem as if they are the most interesting person in the world.
To me he is a real gift for the listener because he is easy going and that is perfect for that time of evening.
There are many ways to listen to Art's new show, Midnight in the Desert......
This blogger and long time news talk radio listener heard Art Bell on the Kern Radio station out of central California--tuning into the station on the computer.
The evening before on the test show I went directly to Art's website and listened on the player link.
Many people listen on their i-phone.
Art Bell is taking calls from all over the world.
I guess the thing I like the most about Art Bell is his gift of genuine interest in the caller and subject matter, his easy going style--the man can handle anything--and the fact that he just lets folks talk without yelling at them or injecting hostility into the conversation.
Well done and good job, Art Bell.
The show is free.

StreamGuys to Deliver and Monetize Online Radio for Dark Matter Digital Network, Art Bell’s Midnight in the Desert
Combination of dynamic ad insertion, audience measurement and robust cloud-based streaming architecture carve path to monetizing radio on the web
Bayside, California(7/20/2015) -Dark Matter Digital Network, a burgeoning online radio network focused on science, paranormal and related topical radio shows, has selected StreamGuys to provide all content delivery network (CDN) and live streaming services for its programming, including dynamic ad insertion. The appointment of StreamGuys as the network’s exclusive CDN and streaming partner coincides with paranormal radio legend Art Bell’s return to broadcasting. Mr. Bell’s new Midnight in the Desert program premieres this week, airing weeknights on Dark Matter Digital Network at 12 midnight ET.
Keith Rowland, owner of Dark Matter Digital Network and a longtime webmaster and engineer for Art Bell, has gradually built a live talent roster since launching the network in 2013. With the return of Art Bell and the addition of The Other Side of Midnight, a new show from Richard C. Hoagland airing immediately after Midnight in the Desert, Rowland sought to offload the growing responsibilities that come with a busier live streaming schedule—and a quickly growing audience.
A recommendation from TuneIn, the popular stream aggregator that will carry Midnight in the Desert via its mobile app, brought StreamGuys into the picture. StreamGuys quickly established a robust, cloud-based streaming architecture that can quickly scale up or down to accommodate audience sizes from show to show, along with redundant mp3 and AAC+ streams to accommodate most media players. Rowland also signed on for StreamGuys’ dynamic ad insertion service, ensuring a simple path to stream monetization without the burden of managing ad schedules and delivery.
“StreamGuys developed a strong combination of hardware and streaming infrastructure that covered everything from dynamic user numbers to ad delivery,” said Rowland. “They built a redundant server backbone to handle thousands of connections seamlessly, with automatic failover to backup systems as needed. It’s an intelligent configuration that can determine which server and data center location is best equipped to handle each connection. And the ad insertion service happens entirely server-side, which means we simply have to send a tone down the audio chain to trigger ads. They do all the heavy lifting, which removes the headaches of manual ad management from the client side.”
The monetization angle is especially important for Dark Matter Digital Network as a quickly growing streaming network. While 22 over-the-air radio stations in North America have signed on to pick up Midnight in the Desert from a relay stream, Rowland emphasizes that his operation is primarily an internet streaming network—a vision that he sees quickly gaining momentum.
“Increasingly, broadcasters who leave the corporate market recognize independent internet streaming as the next logical step,” said Rowland. “Even when Art Bell was on terrestrial and later satellite radio, more listeners were switching to a concurrent internet stream with each passing week. This was the next natural step for Art, and it’s exactly where we want to be as Dark Matter Digital Network. We can control everything we do, and streaming is a more exacting technology when it comes to financials. We understand our demographics, we know our audience numbers and we can monetize everything easily compared to the surveys and averages of terrestrial radio. StreamGuys is helping us achieve our monetization goals.”

Fox News: The Difference Between Geraldo and O'Reilly
Geraldo Rivera: cute, unafraid and gets it |
Our beautiful President, Barack Obama, cute, cool and really funny |
Bill O'Reilly: afraid and angry |
That's the major difference between Geraldo Rivera and Bill O'Reilly of Fox News.
Seriously, Geraldo tries to gets the facts out...the pertinent news items of the day and talk about it. Bill O'Reilly, daily gives his impression of the stories of the day and tries to call it news and then wonders why people do not go on his show.
Who would go on the The Factor just to listen to him shout--chin jutting out, fists clenched--the guest would have to shout him down to even give his side of things.
No, Bill, you are not always right.
Further more you are afraid and Geraldo Rivera is not.
Bill is afraid something will be different than he envisions--he is so scared his false premise will be challenged.
Geraldo Rivera of WABC AM Radio in New York and Fox News is not afraid of the caller.....Geraldo is not afraid of new information.
The take of The Ronnie Republic--news should be free and easy--the facts should be out there and easy to obtain--a price should not be paid for the information.
Radio, television, news, media, Internet--information that is easy and free to obtain for everyone--for people of all socioeconomic classes and all ages. This is the hallmark of a free nation.
Opinions are a good thing--we love to hear all the ideas--why one political philosophy is right or wrong......as long as it is identified as your idea and not fact.......again this is the difference between Geraldo and O'Reilly.
The citizens can hear all of the facts and individual ideas and then form their own preferences.....no one has to be afraid.
As Zeke Emanuel said.....Bill O'Reilly could use his popular podium to give out information but instead he uses it to spread fear for his own gain.
Our beautiful President, Barack Obama, was so hilarious yesterday when he voted--the guy in the booth next to him said, "Man, don't touch my girl."
President Obama took the cue and said....Let's go ahead and see if we can make him jealous........it was sooooooo funny.
This is what O'Reilly can't get.....President Obama identifies with the every day work-a-day citizen, not just people of color as O'Reilly tries to insinuate.
President Obama is cute and funny.....get over it O'Reilly....you're old and out and you shout!
Good job, Geraldo, for trying to always move forward and not spreading fear--for not being an angry old white man.

Seriously, Everyone Loves Wolf Blitzer and I do To
CNN Anchor/Reporter Wolf Blitzer (Photo credit: Wikipedia) |
Well, jut seeing a preview--what a privilege to hear Wolf Blitzer talk about his family and his tragedy in Poland......both sets of his grandparents died in Auschwitz.
Admiring Wolf forever--is there anyone who does not--my most trusted news person in the world--Wolf went to Poland recently as part of the series Roots by CNN to discover his own personal history. At first he was reluctant to do it, but once he started on the journey he became very interested and intrigued.
Thank you, Wolf and CNN, for telling us about this very important information. Thank you, Wolf for sharing this very personal history of your family with your television audience.
Has CNN finally taken my advice....I have been telling them forever it would be so fun to hear someone like Larry King just chat with the hosts--yes, I really like them and watch them everyday--to just see what makes them tick.
I am personally waiting for the in-depth interview with my favorite, Fred Whitfield and her legal boys--at the end of the day they should really have their own show.
Yesterday, Jake Tapper talked about his family--too bad his ancestors were fighting for the British.
Good job, Jake, for telling us about your family, too. It was pretty funny to hear your take on things.

Seriously, Actually, at the end of the day.........Bill O'Reilly vs Snoop Dog
Cover of Bill O'Reilly |
Cover of Snoop Dogg |
Bill O'Reilly would like to be the big dog in town, but Snoop has that position now |
Seriously, there is something wrong with Bill O'Reilly.
As an O'Reilly critic I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with the man for a long time. His idea of picking and choosing facts to highlight his point of view and calling it the news is simply amazing.
Actually, the words of Zeke Emanuel calling him out for using his podium to spread fear rather than give out information regarding the ACA and President Obama is an accurate statement.
A personal favorite is the Kennedy Center Honors where he actually shook hands with Snoop yet ignored the opportunity to make a relationship with someone who knew the inner city and could have enlightened him on events and situations where O'Reilly likes to give his opinion but has no firsthand information. He also goes on about Beyonce to an embarrassing degree but refused to acknowledge Snoops community work with his football team in Long Beach. Snoop has spoken often about responsibility--he has had great conversations with Larry King--someone who is actually interested information.
Also, the comments of Joan Walsh on his interview with President Obama on Superbowl Sunday were quite enlightening and thoughtful. Her comment and insight were helpful to those who found his in-the-face approach to a conversation with a sitting President offensive.
At the end of the day it seems like Bill must have been mistreated as a child in some way that he cannot handle compassion for other people. Groups of people do not want to forget their history. They want to cherish their history and try to understand it. His hatred for Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are telling when so many find the words of these individuals soothing. The Reverend recently won the Essence award for community work.

Well--what do you think--why is he so popular--who are these folks he always claims to be looking out for?
Where I worked the surgeons were dancing to Gin and Juice--that's what Bill does not get.
Snoop is main stream--it is the regular work a day citizen that voted for President Obama.
Bill wants to convince us all into subscribing to his view of Catholic guilt-ridden religion and save the world.
Right, then we can all be successful and angry like him.
It is not just a political view......it is an arrogance and lack of of compassion.
