Kieth Rowland Talks the Future of @ArtBell51

So news/talk radio does seem to be like a really odd thing.....here in San Diego, no one seemed to mind when we had an ultra-right wing name calling nut on the morning drive forever, particularly the station itself.

Now Merrill, my favorite person in the evening is gone and now Geraldo is gone from WABC.

It does seem like a cut throat world--can't blame Art for wanting control of his own show and radio world but it did feel like it was a bit much to handle from the get go. Who can run the whole end of taking all of the calls every night alone with no break as he often said there was no screener.

That is where Art and Geraldo and Larry King are the best. They can handle anything and they can make anything sound interesting without getting angry and insulting the caller. They are not afraid of the caller--in the long run it makes a good show. They are truly gifted and very intelligent.

Well, we can see why Art wants the control but who can handle everything every night. It is just too much pressure.

Is there anyway Art can come back on an "as needed" basis--what about the way Leo LaPorte works with his own studio--he also was tired of the television network bossing him around.

Perhaps, Art needs a studio he controls with more people but not right at his house and not every night.

Just a thought--it is interesting to hear how the radio world actually works, enjoy your comments.

Short Update from Keith Rowland re: Art Bell

I am saddened of course by the quick departure of Art Bell and many people think this is just a stunt to get out of doing the show. But let me tell you these latest events are real and Nye County police reports have been filed and are public. I’ve been with Art for each of his retirements, and while I may not agree with some of his reasons, they were real and after time he has managed to overcome them and return to radio. This too may pass.
Many people have been thinking this is just a way to get out of the show because it wasn’t doing any good. But, in fact we had contracts in place to bring on 2 more very large stations to the network, of which we were very encouraged about. We were growing every day. Subscriptions were still increasing and stations were still signing up.
However, I doubt he will ever be able to come back to traditional radio again, it was still a hard sell as it was, and stations’ concerns of his longevity certainly played out. If he does come back in any capacity, it would be on DMDN.
The Dark Matter Digital Network will still run the same programs it has been, if they want to stay, and still for FREE. The only change are some programs will not be LIVE, just pre-recorded. We will continue to produce Midnight in the Desert with Heather Wade and have Art back when he can. To support this effort, please stay subscribed as a Time Traveler.

Can't Wait To Hear Art Bell

warner-background3-feat

Always listening to talk radio.....can't wait for the new  show of Art Bell.

No, I always knew Art was a very talented radio show host but lately night time talk radio has become a vast wasteland of  uninteresting chit chat with an ultra conservative political agenda ad nauseum........not to mention boring.

Who  decided the nighttime format warranted unending political editorials,,,,,,,,,leave it to the daytime and CNN.

What happened to plain old interesting and sometimes bizarre UFO talk?

Where we were once able to enjoy  an engaged talk  show host the likes  of Larry King or  George Strombo we are now left with one-sided political  droning.

It even seems  like the current regular   nighttime man is  more interested in promoting his own commercial  agenda at the expense of the listener and the guest.

Enter Art Bell.........

I guess what one does  not really understand, like all very talented individuals, is that it very difficult to keep  a talk show going at an interesting and engaging level night after night.  It must require a certain level of focus and genuine interest.

We  never realized just  how gifted Art Bell was until he  was  gone.......Yes, we have  George Knapp, but not on a regular basis.

Give a listen to Art's old shows......he makes the guest sound as if we  are so lucky to  hear his opinion and take on things.   Art has  the knack of making the subject matter important and worthwhile.

When one listens to the very old shows and they are way better than the current........I think we  have to give credit to the host.

Can't wait for  your return Mister Art Bell.......It's been way  too long.  I am going to appreciate you more this time.

Seriously, Everyone Loves Wolf Blitzer and I do To

CNN Anchor/Reporter Wolf Blitzer

Can't wait to watch the show, Roots, on CNN this evening.........

Well, jut seeing a preview--what a privilege to hear Wolf Blitzer talk about his family and his tragedy in Poland......both sets of his grandparents died in Auschwitz.

Admiring Wolf forever--is there anyone who does not--my most trusted news person in the world--Wolf went to Poland recently as part of the series Roots by CNN to discover his own personal history.  At first he was reluctant to do it, but once he started on the journey he became very interested and intrigued.

Thank you, Wolf and CNN, for telling us about this very important information.  Thank you, Wolf for sharing this very personal history of your family with your television audience.

Has CNN finally taken my advice....I have been telling them forever it would be so fun to hear someone like Larry King just chat with the hosts--yes, I really like them and watch them everyday--to just see what makes them tick.

I am personally waiting for the in-depth interview with my favorite, Fred Whitfield and her legal boys--at the end of the day they should really have their own show.

Yesterday, Jake Tapper talked about his family--too bad his ancestors were fighting for the British.

Good job, Jake, for telling us about your family, too.  It was pretty funny to hear your take on things.

CNN Messes Up Then Tries To Blame Piers Morgan

from the Guardian.......

CNN calls Piers Morgan 'sad', defends Anderson Cooper in harsh statement

Network hits back at the former Piers Morgan Tonight host for his comments blaming Cooper for his own show’s poor ratings

Piers Morgan has spent a bitter week hitting out at his former CNN colleague Anderson Cooper, blaming the dismal ratings for Piers Morgan Tonight on Cooper’s poor lead-in.
On Thursday, CNN hit back, calling his behaviour “sad” and accusing Morgan of denigrating Cooper in an attempt to get a new TV job.
The flame war started with an interview Morgan gave to Politico, published on 2 October. “Could I have done with a better lead-in?” he said. “Yes. Anderson is a great field reporter, but does he drive big ratings at CNN, outside of a big news cycle? I don’t see any evidence of it.”
It continued with a column Morgan wrote for the Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday, where he described Cooper as “stiff in a studio”, and that his show gets “annihilated in the ratings” by Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly. He said he blamed Cooper for not bringing in a strong enough audience for his AC360 show, who would then go on to watch Piers Morgan Tonight.
He expanded on his relationship with Cooper in an interview with Access Hollywood. “I don’t get on that well with Anderson, never had that much to do with Anderson,” Morgan said, continuing: “It’s not to denigrate Anderson who is a very, very good field reporter. But to me as a studio star, he’s not really what CNN needs.” He also suggested CNN should have hired Megyn Kelly, the Fox News anchor whose show airs at 9pm, the slot formerly occupied by Morgan on CNN.
On Thursday CNN spokeswoman Megan Rivers retaliated, in a statementfirst obtained by Politico which said: “For the two-and-a-half years that AC 360 served as the lead-in to Piers Morgan’s program on CNN, it always delivered a higher rating than Piers’ program. And for the seven months that Piers Morgan’s program led into AC 360, 360 always delivered a higher rating than Piers’ program.”
“It is sad that Piers is trying to find a new job by misrepresenting how he performed in his old one.”

Oh, excuse me.....let's just wait one tiny little minute. As a CNN viewer forever....I get to talk.
Here is exactly where CNN messed up.....
They did have some good shows on hand which they F***ed up big time.
they had George Strombo, who is an excellent interviewer....seriously, the guests end up telling him useful and interesting information.
He beats Anderson and Piers, who are both skilled, hands down on technique and having what it takes to make a good show.
But, no....instead of showing George which they advertised all week.....they had to run repeats of PM and AC 360 over and over again while cutting George.
Get a clue, CNN--enough is enough of PM and AC--one show of them each is plenty in one evening--but endless reruns of the same thing over and over again--give me a break.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what is wrong with the scenario........I said use George Strombo--you are wasting your talent on hand--bring back Larry, what about Geraldo Rivera, why did they let Greta go?
The Larry King show was a perfect format for a dinner show on a regular basis--interesting and easy to take,
At the end of the day it seemed like AC and PM were in a fight to takeover control of the network.
They are both fine in small doses--let them get their evening interview show organized with a few interesting hosts and some good current news-topic guests.
Take a lesson from Larry King--add a few other good hosts and guests and you've got yourself ratings.
I shouldn't have to say all of this--I bet CNN pays a bunch of real smart people a whole lot of money to know these things.

Seriously, Actually, at the end of the day.........Bill O'Reilly vs Snoop Dog

Bill O'Reilly

Snoop Dogg

Bill O'Reilly would like to be the big dog in town, but Snoop has that position now
Seriously, Actually, at the end of the day.........

Seriously, there is something wrong with Bill O'Reilly.

As an O'Reilly critic I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with the man for a long time.  His idea of picking and choosing facts to highlight his point of view and calling it the news is simply amazing.

Actually, the words of Zeke Emanuel calling him out for using his podium to spread fear rather than give out information regarding the ACA and President Obama is an accurate statement.

A personal favorite is the Kennedy Center Honors where he actually shook hands with Snoop yet ignored the opportunity to make a relationship with someone who knew the inner city and could have enlightened him on events and situations where O'Reilly likes to give his opinion but has no firsthand information.  He also goes on about Beyonce to an embarrassing degree but refused to acknowledge Snoops community work with his football team in Long Beach.  Snoop has spoken often about responsibility--he has had great conversations with Larry King--someone who is actually interested information.

Also, the comments of Joan Walsh on his interview with President Obama on Superbowl Sunday were quite enlightening and thoughtful.  Her comment and insight were helpful to those who found his in-the-face approach to a conversation with a sitting President offensive.

At the end of the day it seems like Bill must have been mistreated as a child in some way that he cannot handle compassion for other people.  Groups of people do not want to forget their history.  They want to cherish their history and try to understand it.  His hatred for Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are telling when so many find the words of these individuals soothing.  The Reverend recently won the Essence award for community work.

Well--what do you think--why is he so popular--who are these folks he always claims to be looking out for?

Where I worked the surgeons were dancing to Gin and Juice--that's what Bill does not get.

Snoop is main stream--it is the regular work a day citizen that voted for President Obama.

Bill wants to convince us all into subscribing to  his view of Catholic guilt-ridden religion and save the world.

Right, then we can all be successful and angry like him.

It is not just a political view......it is an arrogance and lack of of compassion.
