Do you listen to a nighttime chat radio station?

Just wondering if it is work or a particular schedule that finds one up at night and tuning into their favorite chat show.

Are you like me--sleeping just works out much better with the radio on and a good conversation with a new and unusual topic. something to hold your interest other than the news. A good story teller fills the bill.

What is your best station or do you prefer internet radio or a good podcast?

Listening to Coast almost every evening but just wondering why it is always the same folks calling in all of the time.

It is a little bit on the boring side to me.

Kieth Rowland Talks the Future of @ArtBell51

So news/talk radio does seem to be like a really odd thing.....here in San Diego, no one seemed to mind when we had an ultra-right wing name calling nut on the morning drive forever, particularly the station itself.  

Now Merrill, my favorite person in the evening is gone and now Geraldo is gone from WABC.  

It does seem like a cut throat world--can't blame Art for wanting control of his own show and radio world but it did feel like it was a bit much to handle from the get go.  Who can run the whole end of taking all of the calls every night alone with no break as he often said there was no screener.  

That is where Art and Geraldo and Larry King are the best.  They can handle anything and they can make anything sound interesting without getting angry and insulting the caller.  They are not afraid of the caller--in the long run it makes a good show.  They are truly gifted and very intelligent.

Well, we can see why Art wants the control but who can handle everything every night.  It is just too much pressure.  

Is there anyway Art can come back on an "as needed" basis--what about the way Leo LaPorte works with his own studio--he also was tired of the television network bossing him around.

Perhaps, Art needs a studio he controls with more people but not right at his house and not every night.

Just a thought--it is interesting to hear how the radio world actually works, enjoy your comments.

Short Update from Keith Rowland re: Art Bell

I am saddened of course by the quick departure of Art Bell and many people think this is just a stunt to get out of doing the show. But let me tell you these latest events are real and Nye County police reports have been filed and are public. I’ve been with Art for each of his retirements, and while I may not agree with some of his reasons, they were real and after time he has managed to overcome them and return to radio. This too may pass.

Many people have been thinking this is just a way to get out of the show because it wasn’t doing any good. But, in fact we had contracts in place to bring on 2 more very large stations to the network, of which we were very encouraged about. We were growing every day. Subscriptions were still increasing and stations were still signing up.

However, I doubt he will ever be able to come back to traditional radio again, it was still a hard sell as it was, and stations’ concerns of his longevity certainly played out. If he does come back in any capacity, it would be on DMDN.

The Dark Matter Digital Network will still run the same programs it has been, if they want to stay, and still for FREE. The only change are some programs will not be LIVE, just pre-recorded. We will continue to produce Midnight in the Desert with Heather Wade and have Art back when he can. To support this effort, please stay subscribed as a Time Traveler.

Noam Laden: No Ed Mullins--We're Not Buying It--On WABC New York Radio Today

Noam always conducts an excellent radio news/talk show..........

He has his own show on WABC at 5 in the morning New York City time and everyone enjoys Noam Laden as a co-anchor with Geraldo Rivera also on WABC in the 10-12 AM time slot.......that is 7-9 for the San Diego listeners.

Today Noam is asking why are there so many homeless people in New York City.........

In San Diego we have very many homeless people, too.

We have to give credit in San Diego to another local excellent talk show host and that would be Sully on KOGO San Diego..........

Sullly has had very many special shows trying to solve the homeless problem in San Diego............why does it exist and how can the problem be solved.......why does it even exist at all now as opposed to previous years in San Diego when the problem was not apparent.

so here is what a very friendly and pleasant homeless man told me when I used to sell my jewelry at the farmer's market in San Diego.

He said in San Diego there were always plenty of low income hotels and inexpensive coffee shops where an individual could easily survive and eat, have a place to stay for just a few dollars a day.

Then with the revitalization of downtown San Diego all of these buildings were removed and not replaced.....where do the folks without a home stay??

There is no low income housing in San Diego.

There are plenty of people panhandling in San Diego and Noam Laden is suggesting it is also legal in New York City.

Noam Laden also asked Sergeants Benevolent

Association's Ed Mullins why he was so enraged about the settlement

between

the city and the family of Eric Garner. it was a bit odd to me as Ed Mullins

tried to tell Noam that Eric Garner just happened to be dead resulting from an

unfortunate accident and that the police department was totally innocent.

Noam suggested the family must be very upset when they watch the video and

see their husband and father being taken down and murdered by the police.

Ed

indicated everyone has it wrong.......in fact, Eric Garner did not work or pay

taxes---the police were all right and Eric Garner and his family were all wrong.

Noam Laden did not buy one bit of this horse hockey for one minute--Ed

Mullins was actually very difficult for this blog lady to hear....it was just too

much.....but good try Ed.........we are just not having it right now.

Long time KOGO listener and Sully fan for a very long time.............

Sully, Merrill, Kevin Finnerty...........they make news/talk radio enjoyable in San Diego........Sully's conversations re: the individuals without permanent housing in San Diego is admirable........former mayoral candidate, Carl De Maio is a brilliant addition to the afternoon line-up.

KOGO and the San Diego listeners are lucky to have his opinion on local and national political topics.

Carl....love your radio show on KOGO 600 and listen to it whenever I can.

While I am a dem and disagree with many of your policies I still always want to hear both sides and you present your case very well without anger and bashing.

By the time you and Sully are finished discussing an issue I feel well informed.

I really like getting to know you on the radio and you have so much to offer about San Diego politics and that kind of information is always interesting and valuable.

Well done on not just being a one dimensional angry Republican.

Seriously, the GOP can use more people like you and less like Bill O'Reilly.......good job.......always listening to the radio.....chloelouise from the ronnie republic.

Can't Wait To Hear Art Bell

Always listening to talk radio.....can't wait for the new show of Art Bell.

No, I always knew Art was a very talented radio show host but lately night time talk radio has become a vast wasteland of uninteresting chit chat with an ultra conservative political agenda ad nauseum........not to mention boring.

Who decided the nighttime format warranted unending political editorials,,,,,,,,,leave it to the daytime and CNN.

What happened to plain old interesting and sometimes bizarre UFO talk?

Where we were once able to enjoy an engaged talk show host the likes of Larry King or George Strombo we are now left with one-sided political droning.

It even seems like the current regular nighttime man is more interested in promoting his own commercial agenda at the expense of the listener and the guest.

Enter Art Bell.........

I guess what one does not really understand, like all very talented individuals, is that it very difficult to keep a talk show going at an interesting and engaging level night after night. It must require a certain level of focus and genuine interest.

We never realized just how gifted Art Bell was until he was gone.......Yes, we have George Knapp, but not on a regular basis.

Give a listen to Art's old shows......he makes the guest sound as if we are so lucky to hear his opinion and take on things. Art has the knack of making the subject matter important and worthwhile.

When one listens to the very old shows and they are way better than the current........I think we have to give credit to the host.

Can't wait for your return Mister Art Bell.......It's been way too long. I am going to appreciate you more this time.

Art Bell Vs. George Noory: The Coast to Coast AM Controversy

Hey, all of you Coast to Coast AM listeners out there........

What do you think?

What has happened to Coast to Coast AM--what day did it turn into a political show.

Is it just The Ronnie Republic Radio round-Up that is asking the question....What is going on?

Are all of the listeners Republicans and this is the only listening, questioning democrat.

Is George Noory too tired and trying to stay awake.........

Seriously, all of these questions come up as the listener ask themselves....Where in the world is Art Bell?

Did Art Bell like the callers--was he actually interested in what they were saying--did he care.

Of course, we will never really know the answers to these questions but is certainly seemed like he was interested in what was taking place on his show.

George Noory, lately, not so much..........

It seems like George has forgotten the hallmark of the show--free thinking--letting people talk. Last week he cut off a lady right in the middle of a very sad, heart-felt story--it was embarrassing. What was the point of cutting the lady off just to let one more caller get in.

It was rude, George.........

Sometimes it sounds like George is not even listening to what the callers are saying--he is fighting to stay awake. He's always awake to push his own shows and endeavors.

Speaking of free thinking--what day did Coast to Coast AM become a promotion for the political right wing conservative movement in the US.

Does George Noory think only Repubs listen to the show. Did George Noory ever entertain the fact that some of the listeners may like President Obama.

His political diatribes are offensive--thanks George but I listen to the news all day long--I'm going to go ahead and form my own political opinion right now.

No one minds Corsi from World Net Daily sharing his opinion once in a while--but to view his ideas as if they are news......

Gee--George--I don't think so.........

Reading Art Bell's website he says he will be back on the radio in 2015.

Both of these late night magnates are talented radio hosts, gifted speakers with plenty of talents and a few faults, too.

I love George Noory but right now........

I can't wait for Art Bell to get back--the show has lost its' life and freshness--Art Bell has the gift of running a show and keeping it alive. It's got to be hard work but right now the man at the helm of the ship seems old and tired.

Art Bell Where are you.
