Fox News: The Difference Between Geraldo and O'Reilly

Geraldo Rivera.
Geraldo Rivera:  cute, unafraid and gets it

Bill O'Reilly
Bill O'Reilly:  afraid and angry
Geraldo gets it........O'Reilly does not.

That's the major difference between Geraldo Rivera and Bill O'Reilly of Fox News.

Seriously, Geraldo tries to gets the facts out...the pertinent news items of the day and talk about it.  Bill O'Reilly, daily gives his impression of the stories of the day and tries to call it news and then wonders why people do not go on his show.

Who would go on the The Factor just to listen to him shout--chin jutting out, fists clenched--the guest would have to shout him down to even give his side of things.

No, Bill, you are not always right.

Further more you are afraid and Geraldo Rivera is not.

Bill is afraid something will be different than he envisions--he is so scared his false premise will be challenged.

Geraldo Rivera of WABC AM Radio in New York and Fox News is not afraid of the caller.....Geraldo is not afraid of new information.

The take of The Ronnie Republic--news should be free and easy--the facts should be out there and easy to obtain--a price should not be paid for the information.

Radio, television, news, media, Internet--information that is easy and free to obtain for everyone--for people of all socioeconomic classes and all ages.  This is the hallmark of a free nation.

Opinions are a good thing--we love to hear all the ideas--why one political philosophy is right or wrong......as long as it is identified as your idea and not fact.......again this is the difference between Geraldo and O'Reilly.

The citizens can hear all of the facts and individual ideas and then form their own preferences.....no one has to be afraid.

As Zeke Emanuel said.....Bill O'Reilly could use his popular podium to give out information but instead he uses it to spread fear for his own gain.

Our beautiful President, Barack Obama, was so hilarious yesterday when he voted--the guy in the booth next to him said, "Man, don't touch  my girl."

President Obama took the cue and said....Let's go ahead and see if we can make him jealous........it was sooooooo funny.

This is what O'Reilly can't get.....President Obama identifies with the every day work-a-day citizen, not just people of color as O'Reilly tries to insinuate.

President Obama is cute and funny.....get over it O'Reilly....you're old and out and you shout!

Good job, Geraldo, for trying to always move forward and not spreading fear--for not being an angry old white man.

The fact remains, at the end of the day, Geraldo Rivera is an excellent investigative reporter.

I think sometimes people forget that.

Geraldo's WABC on air radio partner, Noam Laden, also said it today.....you are doing a good job of trying to get the facts out there without creating panic......talking about the Ebola scare going on in our country right now and the guests Geraldo has had on his show........first a physician with the facts and then the officer who participated if fixing the catastrophe of Katrina in New Orleans...General Russell Honore.

Geraldo Rivera does favor President Obama in many ways but he would like to see a Czar in charge of the Ebola outbreak.

The caller reminded the listeners today that Texas was actually ranking 50th in the United States in terms of health care and that the CDC was a very worthy cause where financial cuts should not take place.

Last week Geraldo was impressive when he called out politician Duncan Hunter from San Diego County.....he had tried to say members of Isis had come through the southern border near San Diego into the United States.

Geraldo Rivera and Greta Van Susteran asked Ducan Hunter how will you verify these facts and he simply stated....I asked a member of the Border Patrol.

Geraldo told us...there was no way to back up these facts....it was simply false and a scare tactic of Duncan Hunter.  The sad thing about this situation......it was later repeated on a San Diego radio station as fact......that is plain wrong....and it is wrong for an elected politician to use these ideas for his own gain.

Geraldo Rivera stated today and on many other occasions.....Drudge often uses scare tactics to make headlines.....the problem is that it trickles down and other commentators repeat these ideas as if it is fact.

Geraldo said this is so self-defeating.

From San Diego forever and recently in Wichita....this is an offensive statement from Duncan Hunter......the Border Patrol in San Diego do an excellent job.  This protective group is dilligent and serious.

Written to Geraldo from the ronnie re....just recently I lived in Dulzura........just about 20 miles past San Diego on the way to the Tecate border.  We had to go through a border patrol crossing every day.....it was extremely secure.....many, many armed personnel with dogs--these people were not playing.  They were often going after people and going through cars and cargo trucks.  Also, they were regularly parked all night at the end of our driveway in this rural area and there were also sensors in the ground.  If anyone thinks the border patrol is not doing a serious job I challenge them to visit the area and see for themselves.  Also, the border crossing on the freeway at San Ysidro is giant with a huge fence that is always patrolled which you often mention.  The border patrol is all over the place in these areas.

Kudos to Geraldo Rivera for being one of the few news/talk jays that actually allows the veiwer to say their opinion.

No, I am saying he is a good person because he can take a disagreement and talk about it.  Geraldo is not afraid of the caller.

San Diego radio update.......Chris Merrill going to evenings.

Also, noticed this trait with Chris Merrill of San Diego of KOGO radio 600 AM.......one of the few radio personalities that lets the person calling in talk.  Also, he has varying views from his cohorts on the air.  Merril is not afaraid of a caller with a disagreement.

In the long run it is a good show from both of these radio personalities.......

Asking the age old question......shall we form our own opinions or shall we only think what is shouted at us by Bill O'Reilly and then call it news.

Good job, Geraldo Rivera and Chris Merril for telling us all sides of the story.

It's good reporting and it is good news.

Larry Mendte WABC Sunday Night: Love to Agree and Disagree With Larry--from The Ronnie Republic Radio Round-Up

Black Leaders in Ferguson would like AL Sharpton TO go away! He just makes things worse. I will be talking about this tonight on 77 WABC. Listen in your car, online or on IHeart radio/

copied from the The Larry Mendte Show facebook page........

Dear Larry:  I have to tell you....we disagree on so much but apparently we really agree on a few things, too.  I listened to you on Geraldo this week and enjoyed your program showing both sides of the issues on the police and the recent events in New York.  It is so easy to be angry with the police but we have to remember they are people with emotions and families doing an extremely hard job.  It is a complicated situation.Should there be more public education about how citizens and the police should act when they want to arrest or question someone....because right now both sides are suffering. What about the idea of helmet or chest cameras.  I do not know the answer.

Here in Wichita the police came under fire for shooting a dog, a pit bull mix, who turned out to be a fine individual....but then I read a story 2 days later about a Grandma's dog that killed the baby......so how are the police suppose to act going into the situation...they lose either way......which dogs are killers and which are loose pets?

I happen to really like Al Sharpton and I have found his words to be soothing on many occasions.  If I was a citizen of Missouri I would want him there to represent me.  We can't keep gunning down our kids...I do not want the police to be a militia against our children.  All the kids act up but they should not die for it......yes, mine have  acted up, too.

I really wanted to say I appreciated your show about Robin Williams....I have always thought he was a genius but he was just too much for me.  Everyone loved him but to me he was angry and I was very angry with him for his final action.  So many people have been hurt and affected by his actions.....again, it was just too much and your show was actually very helpful.  Having said that Mrs. Doubtfire was the funniest movie I have ever seen in my life.    He was so complicated....so over the top......I shared many of your thoughts.

Keep up the good work........always listening to the radio....cl

from the Ronnie Republic Radio Round-Up: Judge Andrew Napolitano Sits In For Geraldo and Does a Pretty Good Job

WABC Radio  New York......

So here is the age old question....is the radio talk show format about a political discussion and finding out new information or is it only about the opinions of the host no questions asked......

The man in for Geraldo today........he did a pretty good job.

This was Judge Napolitano from the Fox Network.

Of course, he was not as good as Rita Cosby who I was hoping for in Geraldo's absence and he was not as good as Geraldo but he still ran an interesting show, did not shout or yell or get angry and conducted a political discussion.

Not really agreeing with the Judge or Fox News on most issues but still anxious to hear his opinion and why......he is against stop and frisk and Geraldo is for stop and frisk so the conversation was informational and fun from the listeners point of view.

It is always fun to hear about New York since their issues are slightly different from the rest of the country due to their size and tourist attraction--something is always going on there and the big political radio talkers are there, too.

Judge Napolitano gave his views on stop and frisk and he also had on his show a guest to give his reasons for a strong opposition.

Not really understanding the issues of New York City or stop and frisk it is a real learning experience when we get to hear an in-depth study from both sides.....in-depth for a radio show, that is.  He let the callers give their ideas without interruption.

Seriously, the show was entertaining and enjoyable.......more than the angry ,  Clinton bashing individual they had on Monday morning.

Actually, Noam Laden conducts a great talk show on his own.....they should just let Noam fill in when Geraldo and Rita are not available.....particularly instead of the angry incorrect shouting man.

Good job, Judge, we will be listening for your tomorrow.

From the desk of the Ronnie Republic Radio Round-Up.....hey, what is your best radio show.....who do you listen to for your info and why.......

Geraldo Rivera: I'm Just Not Into Hurting People's Feelings

Geraldo Rivera
Geraldo Rivera:  the vibe of New York

That's my take on the show...........

Seriously, listening to a whole lot of news/talk shows Geraldo is a breath of fresh air.

In the first place most of the shows on the radio dial are conservative, super conservative.........but most importantly, they are not talk--that is actually a misnomer.

At first it does seem like they are a talk show and maybe they are even interested in your opinion--that is the false hood, in fact--those shows, most of them, are just a podium for the host to spew their right-wing rant.

It's not really news or information but a conservative editorial.

Many, many times when a caller gives a founded opposite view they are cut off or talked over......the whole thing is a farce.

Geraldo Rivera of WABC New York Talk Radio is different--who knew there would ever be a talk/news jay that would actually listen to the callers.  He lets them talk and answers their compliment, criticism or just comments on their take on things.

Radio listeners--this is extremely rare in talk radio.

Example:  Just this morning Geraldo spoke of La Marina, a docking area and restaurant in New York City he enjoys visiting with his family.  He gave a little history of the place and the O'Rourke family saying in earlier times in was, in fact, known for drug dealing, but now the whole scenario has changed as it is more upscale with new owners.  This was written in the New York papers.

In a few minutes a lady called in to say she was the wife of the individual who had spent time in jail but the papers and Geraldo had taken the whole story out of context.  They did not have money to fight it as she was a registered nurse, retired, and her husband was a construction worker.........the name was correct but everything  reported was wrong according to the caller.  The caller also said the papers had misrepresented the story to be about police corruption, however, that was really not the case.

It was touching as the woman was very distraught--one could hear it in her voice.  It was not only impressive that Geraldo took the call but gave her plenty of time to tell her story and them apologized for his misinterpretation of the facts.  He even recounted to her what had appeared in the papers and allowed her retaliation.  She said the papers have painted the picture incorrectly the entire time but her frustration came in not having the means to ever correct the story.

It was touching......I think Geraldo Rivera felt very bad and he said he does not ever want to hurt people's feelings.  That is not what he is about or the show.

Now, the listener is the winner.....thanks to WABC we know there is another side to the story.

No.....it has to be said....Geraldo and Noam Laden run a good show.

In most talk-radio the listener never gets to hear both sides of the story.....the caller only gets to talk if they agree with the host.  Roger Hedgecock can be an exception at times.

Thanks Geraldo, Good job for leading the way to a fresh view in news-talk radio.  Those other yellers out there might want to take a tip on how to run a conversation.

Geraldo is a new vibe for the republican party--the other repubs should take a tip and maybe they can resurrect their sinking ship.

People call in every day to thank him for his good work and to yell at him, too.

This guy has the ear of New York--GOP, take a listen.

Chloe Louise--Hillary girl forever.

Corrections and comments are welcome as the words of the show were interpreted from memory.

I would love to interview the caller, Mrs. O'Rourke and tell her side of the story.  Interested in information not interogation she can have approval over what is written, telling it as her take on things and the events that have happened.  It is way too interesting to let it go--right, the nurses have to stick together.
