Wll Ferrell and George Strombo: Just Two Really Hip-Hop Guys

Will Ferrell to George Stroumboulopoulos: ‘I’m pretty hip-hop’

Ron Burgundy stayed classy in Toronto by announcing that he is a "badass."
Will Ferrell was promoting "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" on "George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight" this week, and the actor discussed a vital scene at the end of his new film that features a legendary rapper (whom Ferrell didn't identify). In the interview, the actor admitted that he has quite a bit of street cred himself.
"I'm pretty hip-hop. When you look at me you think, 'He's bad-ass,'" Ferrell said in the interview, which airs on CBC on Monday.
The 46-year-old actor said he considered it "high praise" that he has been mentioned in songs like "N---as in Paris" by Kanye West and Jay Z.
"For some reason, lines from the movies we've done and characters have been referenced by the hip-hop community through so many songs," Ferrell said. "I don't know why necessarily, but it's fantastic."

Ferrell has been promoting his new film, which premieres Dec. 18, across Canada over the past week. On Sunday, he wore a kilt to Winnipeg's curling event Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings while in character as Ron Burgundy. "I tell you, Winnipeg is the Paris of Canada," he said.
A day later, the actor also spoke to the Toronto Star about Rob Ford, for whom Ron Burgundyrecently sang a re-election campaign song, "Working for the Weekend," on Conan O'Brien's show.
"I’m just amazed at Toronto, considering it’s such a sophisticated city, and that’s the mayor," he told the Star. "It’s hilarious."
Ferrell actually met Ford back in July 2012, while he and Zach Galifianakis promoted their film "The Campaign" in Toronto. But something tells us they probably won't be meeting this time around.

sewing a new cat bed--making a cat bed from fabric scraps

Displaying IMAG1422.jpg

Can you see the new cat bed?

Apparently Sam loves the electric throw more.

It was just completed last evening.

I'm sure he will be jumping in it any minute.

It is just a flat oval stuffed with scraps of fabric with a folded long strip, stuffed, and sewed to the edges.

Tip--Sew it before you stuff it--leaving open a large enough space to adjust the stuffing with your hand.

I sewed the edge closed and attached it to the oval all in one zig-zag--about 6 inches.

"you know what Geraldo, you're not afraid"

"you know what Geraldo, you're not afraid"

that is what the caller said this morning--Geraldo Rivera is not afraid of debate. Even if you don't agree you let the other person talk--chatting today about the issue of race and President Obama--voicing both sides of the issue.

Geraldo is not only not afraid of debate but he is also not afraid of women like most of the other Fox News talk show anchors--one with the name of Bill comes to mind.

Good job, Geraldo, on liking women and promoting the new civil rights movement--a new minimum wage for low-income workers.

Where are the jobs in the US today?  Where are the factory jobs for the average joe?

Letting everyone talk without promoting an atmosphere of fear.

Well done.

Geraldo Rivera, on WABC Radio New York--it's a good show.

Shining a Light on Palestine

The Exacerbating Electricity Crisis in Gaza

Press Release
In light of the continued siege on the Gaza Strip, and the silence on the humanitarian crises there, the government realized the need to give a detailed picture of the exacerbating electricity crisis:
The electricity problem is not a problem of the day; it’s an old, sequential one, but its severity differed in relation to the number of cut hours.
1. The focal point of the problem dates back to the first days of the PA’s establishment of the Power Generation Company, as the electricity generated had not been enough to meet the need of the overall population of the Gaza Strip because of the interrupted availability of fuel, or the inability to collect the cash necessary to run the power plant in full capacity, and because it had been subjected to a devastating bombing by the Israeli occupation in 2008.
2. The power generation sector has been impacted by the ongoing Israeli siege on Gaza, which contributed a decline to the enclave’s economy as a whole, and to the rising poverty and unemployment rates, and thus affecting the Gaza citizens’ financial ability to pay the electricity subscriptions.
3. The current problem lies in the lack of Egyptian fuel due to the complete closure of the underground tunnels, which have no commercial alternative to serve the Gaza life needs, and in the rising prices of the Israeli fuel.
4. The Government had agreed with the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah to remove the tax imposed on shipping the industrial diesel from the West Bank to the Gaza Strip except for the one called blue tax. It also proposed to remove the VAT to pay 3 NIS per liter, so we were obliged to pay 4.2 NIS per liter to run the power plant temporarily. Lately, the Government has been surprised by the PA retreating from its decision to exempt Gaza from blue tax to demand 5.7 NIS per liter, which is beyond the Power Generation Company’s financial capacity.
The PA levies huge taxes on the Gaza Strip and deducts income taxes worth millions of shekels from its Gaza personnel’s salaries. We expected the PA to relieve the burden on the Gaza citizens through cutting the fuel taxes.
The Main Obstacles Facing the Government to Solve the Problem:
1. The suffocating siege imposed on the Gaza Strip which leads to devastating economic effects.
2. Preventing the entry of the Qatari fuel (roughly 10 thousand tons) already in Egypt.
3. The rocketing fuel prices which affect negatively the purchase power.
4. The total closure of the tunnels.
5. The failure of some citizens to commit to paying the due bills.
6. The increased price of one electrical unit produced by the Power Generation Company to double the selling price which caused serious financial losses.
7. The continuous increase in the population in addition to the establishment of the Qatari housing projects.
8. Banned purchase of fuel.
Demands:
1.  The immediate lifting of the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and allowing entry of fuel.
2.  Egypt must help to minimize the suffering of the Gazans through allowing to purchase fuel or enhancing the power plant that feeding the Gaza Strip.
3.  The Israeli occupation must bear its responsibilities as an occupier and provide the Gaza Strip with the basic needs including the electricity.
4.  The Palestinian Authority must remove all fuel taxes imposed on shipping the diesel fuel to the Gaza Strip and make it available at the import price which is 2.2 NIS.

Talking about Ron Reagan, Jesus and FFRF

Love Ron Reagan and I really like the idea of your foundation--FFRF.

I think the religious right causes countless problems for innocent people just trying to live their everyday life--talking about gay kids who are made to feel guilty.  For instance I have a neighbor who has a transgender child but they go to a church that denounces gays and Muslims.

That is another thing.  the religious right is crazy with their ideas about some people from other countries, justifying all with religion.  I hate it the more I talk about it.

Don't get me started on abortion and Bill O'Reilly.

There is one thing, though--I just happen to love Jesus, too.  I do not attend church but I must say I have backbone of the Christian church, but I love to go to all churches and I admire all religions.  I am happy about all of the religions.

I think if one allows freedom of religious thought--to love Jesus or be a part of any religion or not at all gives us all a freedom and taking religion out of the government is the key.  I do not like the whole Michelle Bachmann idea even though I do admire and have written about the right of these ladies, including Sarah Palin, to speak without being criticized in a way that is indefensible and embarrassing.

I do not know if I would be accepted in your group or not but I admire your philosophy and the freedom it offers.

Accepting your ideas give me the freedom to also love Jesus and all religions, and atheists, too.

Thank you for your time, chloe louise--the ronnie republic

The Naughty London Mayor Said What?

London Mayor Raises Eyebrows, and Ire

LONDON — Boris Johnson, the flamboyant, self-mocking and ambitious mayor of London, has put his gilded foot in his mouth once again, suggesting that the poor of Britain are victims of low I.Q. and that greed is good.

Mr. Johnson, who many believe wants to succeed David Cameron as prime minister and leader of the Conservative Party, has created for himself an image that is both bumbling and endearing, based on bluster, wit and fundamental competence.
He has survived missteps, including various affairs and a love child, that would have sunk ordinary politicians, and he is a fiercely intelligent debater and funnier than most comedians.
But his comments on Wednesday night in the Margaret Thatcher Lecture at the Center for Policy Studies here have created an uglier fuss, with the deputy prime minister, Nick Clegg, of the Liberal Democrats, accusing Mr. Johnson of a “careless elitism” and discussing humankind “as if we are a sort of breed of dogs.”
Mr. Johnson is no scientist, but he has stepped into the kind of debate over the relationship of I.Q. to race and poverty that has tripped up many others before him. He was defending the record of Mrs. Thatcher and her belief in hard work and meritocratic reward, and he urged both helping the poor and giving more support to the brightest. But as he did so, he appeared to mock the 16 percent “of our species” who have an I.Q. below 85 and urged that more help be given to the 2 percent who have an I.Q. of 130 or above.
He said that inequality was inevitable and essential to spur envy and ambition, and hailed greed as a critical spark for economic activity, even as he said he hoped that the financial boom of London would not produce the cruelty of the past.
“I also hope that there is no return to that spirit of Loadsamoney heartlessness — figuratively riffling bank notes under the noses of the homeless,” he said. At the same time, he spoke about growing inequality as a danger to civic peace and made an analogy comparing people to cornflakes in a cereal box that, when shaken hard produced some cornflakes that rose to the top.
“For one reason or another — boardroom greed or, as I am assured, the natural and God-given talent of boardroom inhabitants — the income gap between the top cornflakes and the bottom cornflakes is getting wider than ever,” he said, adding, “We cannot ignore this change in relative economic standing, and the resentment it sometimes brings.”
The left-leaning Guardian newspaper was not alone in pointing out, in an editorial, that Mr. Johnson had misunderstood the nature of the I.Q. test, on which a score of 100 is defined as average. So it is simply a matter of a normal bell curve that 16 percent of the population would be below 85 and 2 percent at 130 or above.
“Any idea that they say anything about ‘our species’ is, well, specious,” The Guardian wrote, adding that I.Q. figures were irrelevant to any discussion about wages. And the newspaper suggested that Mr. Johnson’s elite upbringing, including his time at Eton, might have had something to do with causing “his flake to float to the top of the box.”
Mark Steel, writing in The Independent, praised Mr. Johnson’s “courage,” noting sarcastically that the trouble with Britain was that its bankers had not been able to display any greed. Even in 2006, Mr. Steel noted, they were instead “renting out their offices for free to orphans and injured kittens.”

Love Ron Reagan, Jesus, the United Sates and Cats

Ronald Reagan's Son Records Atheist Radio Ad: 'Not Afraid Of Burning In Hell'

The Huffington Post  |  By  Posted:   |  Updated: 11/27/2013 11:07 am EST

In the ad, which has been running all month, the former Air America host and atheist advocate warns listeners of the “intrusions of religion into our secular government” and asks them to join FFRF in the organization's efforts against religion in politics:
I’m Ron Reagan, an unabashed atheist, and I’m alarmed by the intrusions of religion into our secular government. That’s why I’m asking you to join the Freedom From Religion Foundation -- the nation’s largest and most effective organization of atheists and agnostics, working to keep state and church separate. Phone 1-800-335-4021 or visit the Freedom From Religion Foundation at FFRF.ORG. Ron Reagan, lifelong atheist, not afraid of burning in hell.
In 2004, three weeks after his father's death, Reagan told The New York Times that he would be an "unelectable" candidate for president because of his secular affiliations.
"I’m unelectable. I’m an atheist. As we all know, that is something people won't accept,” Reagan said.
Reagan, who stopped attending church at the age of 12, has also served as an outspoken advocate of stem-cell research, criticizing religious justifications for opposition to the scientific exploration.
“It does not follow that the theology of a few should be allowed to forestall the health and well-being of the many,” Reagan said of stem-cell research at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.
In 2009, Reagan was awarded FFRF's Emperor Has No Clothes Award, and he spoke at the 32nd annual convention of the FFRF, where he touched upon the negative impact of religion on politics.
"Religion may indeed inspire acts of great kindness and courage. But it also trains people to believe things for which there is no evidence. This makes religion’s intrusion into the political sphere all the more troubling," Reagan said during the speech.
“We’re so grateful to Ron Reagan for recording this commercial for FFRF, and for being willing to speak out publicly as an atheist for so many years,” FFRF Co-President Annie Laurie Gaylor said in a news release Monday.
