let's sit down at this cafe, have a cup of coffee and talk about politics.
Fredricka Whitfield, was a beautiful yellow bird today as she celebrated 18 years on CNN with The Legal Guys, Avery Friedman and Richard Herman.
No, they are a family, they are a tight group as they go over the most talked about legal issues of the day. They describe the arguing points with passion as they fight for justice and equal treatment for the citizens of The United States.
Fred clearly brings out their best.......
It seems like Fred is their mom because it is quite obvious that they love her so much. One can easily note they like the other anchors too, but when Fred is not there it is just a regular show--with Fred those boys are beaming.
Attorneys Richard Herman and Avery Friedman, extremely talented in their own right always can be counted on to make brilliant points but together with Fred there is a chemistry.
Seriously, they should have their own show,,,,,,,,,,,,,
She has taught those boys well as evidenced by their happiness when they are all together and they have taught her, too because she always asks the very best questions that every viewer wants to know,
They are a cohesive group and they are fun to watch and the listener is the winner--we not only get the info but the enthusiasm for the case.
This year has been particularly interesting and informative as Richard Herman and Avery Friedman share their passion and outrage about the ridiculous buffoon that holds our most important office.
One Saturday when Richard was particularly outraged regarding the falsehoods of the dorito in chief he spoke for many folks who share the frustration but do not have a public way to voice their opinion.
Richard and Avery and Fred let us regular viewers know we are not the only ones angry at the concepts our leader in-name-only tries to force on us.
Thank you to Fredricka Whitfield, Avery Friedman and the irrepressible Richard Herman for talking to us every Saturday for the last 18 years.
We have been watching you forever, we love you and we will keep watching.
Here is Richard--copied from his facebook page.
Here is a link to the facebook page of Richard Herman:
No, that real good looking mom, Fred Whitfield was just beaming about her man today, Avery Friedman.......
Avery Friedman, one of the regular legal boys, every Saturday morning on Fred's CNN show is being honored today by none other than Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg for ethics in justice.
Typical of Avery, shining in his tuxedo, he shared his award with his fellow CNN contributors and host, Fredrika Whitfield and co-Sat. morning regular team member, defense attorneyRichard Herman.
Seriously, these guys are good--Avery Friedman felt like this is why he was honored because they are doing a good job of telling the public about the legal system and why it works very well but why sometimes there can be room for improvement, too.
It's the chemistry between these three that sets the show off. They are so fun to see every Saturday morning.......
They give us real good info about the legal system--explain how it works--both sides of the issue and they are entertaining. too.
Good job Fred, Avery and Richard for telling us everything about the law.
Congratulations to Avery Friedman for winning his award.
What is going on at CNN.................. I am very angry about CNN canceling Strombo with Larry King for the second time---what goes--they advertised it all week and from what I can see, nixed it at the last minute for AC and more Zimmerman coverage. It was scheduled for 8 PM Pacific Time. They have had plenty of trial coverage--I know that is important, too. They are overdoing Anderson Cooper for everyone else. What do you think? I noticed they also canceled Anthony Bourdain, while I am not particularly a personal fan of his, the show on Libya was extremely interesting and informative........I think they should put some of these shows on the Saturday line-up like they used to . A few years ago I used to watch CNN all Saturday with travel shows and fashion........it was a good Sat off work. What are your thoughts and do you know what happened...........the ronnie republic Of course, this would be a Saturday line-up headed by Fredricka Whitfield and the legal guys, Richard Herman and Avery Friedman.............. I'm still waiting for "Style with Elsa Klench" to come back to Saturdays--that was the best show they have ever had, they already have the format set up with "Fashion Backstage Pass with Alina Cho"--A "Siskel and Ebert" type movie show would be perfect for Saturday; everyone getting ready to go out to the movies. The afternoon can wrap-up with Don Lemon--do not take Don Lemon away, I love his "Take" on things as Fareed says....... CNN--you have got to get with the program.
Love Greta--always have and always will. She is a role model; I followed her over to Fox and I have asked CNN to rehire her back many times. Burden of Proof was one of the original good shows on CNN. Greta is factual and confident and an excellent and fair interviewer--any network is lucky to have her. I wrote about her on my blog: http://theronnierepublic.blogspot.com/2012/07/cnn-fred-and-her-legal-boys-they-should.html CNN's Fred Whitfield and her legal team, Richard Herman and Avery Friedman are also excellent--there are so many interesting trials out there today--it's fun to really try and understand them and what makes the law work. It affects all of us. There is nothing more interesting than true crime, particularly, unsolved true crime. One of your commenters mentioned Geraldo Rivera--he had one of the best OJ Simpson shows on television and I believe it was on CNBC. If my memory serves me correctly I think Richard Herman was also often a guest on that show, too. I enjoyed watching it every night to keep up with the trial. Thank you for your time....chloe louise copied from LA Times Television.......
Greta Van Susteren: Elbowed aside at Fox News by Megyn Kelly?
These days, Greta Van Susteren isn't just covering the news, she's making it.
Speculation is rampant that Van Susteren may be getting ready to walk away from her 10 p.m. Fox News Channel show and head back to CNN, where she rose to prominence in the 1990s as a legal analyst.
One catalyst behind such a possible move? This week's announcement that hard-hitting anchor Megyn Kelly will get a prime-time slot after she returns from maternity leave later this year. Word is that Kelly could get the 10 p.m. real estate, which might leave Van Susteren with no home in prime time, between 8 and 11 p.m.
Meanwhile, CNN is in the middle of yet another reinvention, this one overseen by former NBC Universal boss Jeff Zucker.
Van Susteren, for her part, is saying, just move along, there's nothing to see here.
In a Wednesday blog post headlined LET ME STOP THE RUMORS, she wrote: "I am not going anywhere. I have a long term contract with Fox News Channel and it is for a daily cable news show in prime time."
But Van Susteren didn't address a story in Tuesday's New York Times (echoing a Monday story on the website Mediaite) in which an unnamed CNN executive confirmed that Van Susteren and Zucker had recently talked about her returning to work at CNN.
Complicating all this is the fact that Van Susteren evidently did, in fact, recently sign a long-term extension at Fox News. But there's no contract that can't disappear if both sides want it to.
Fox News is still the runaway leader in cable news, but its audience has aged. Kelly may have some appeal for younger viewers. She's 42, while Van Susteren is 59.
Spokespersons for CNN and Fox News did not reply to emails.
What do you think of Van Susteren's possible shift?
Henry Winkler Talks Parenting on George Strombo's New CNN Show
TV Friday: CNN raises the curtain on Strombo’s new show — again
Stroumboulopoulos promises lively, smart talk on host's own terms
Henry Winkler on the new show of CNN.......I'm just calling it the George Strombo show......
Well, it was real good and Henry Winkler was particularly good, interesting and informative. He does not really care for his parents. While this news may hurt some people's feelings it was music to my ears.
Right, to me, enough people do not talk about this kind of thing....
You are a kid, you know something is wrong, you have food and some clothes, but life is so confusing you can't get on with it.....
That's right, you're stifled, stopped, what's going on, I can't stand it.....it leads to a life of total confusion...do you know how many people told me, when I was a kid.....you need to have more self-confidence? After a while I just said yes; really, I had no clue what they were talking about, I finally started agreeing to get on with it and get away from the stupid adult without arguing and getting in trouble....
You can't say you do not like your parents to most people.........
It's against the Bible....
I finally learned that. I kept trying to talk about it and no one wanted to listen. Because most people do love their parents even though they may have made a few mistakes. They think you are unnatural, an oddity, mentally ill.....but in my case it didn't help that mother kept going behind my back and telling everyone I was mentally ill...mentally ill and dirty.
I'm embarrassed to write this...
Enough about me, but thank you to Henry Winkler and George.
Good job to George, Henry and CNN.
here is some more things about Henry and I copied it from Imdb...
I love being a parent. (April 2007)
There is a gigantic learning curve for parents, knowing when to shut up. My son Max says to me, "Every time you talk to my friends, there has to be a life lesson. Can't you just say hello?"
I was 31 when I realised I wasn't stupid. Dyslexia was diagnosed in me, along with my stepson Jed and, as it turns out, in all our children. They've had the same confidence issues I had. You can't protect them from that, but what you can do is tell them they're fantastic 15 times a day.
American movies have destroyed people's ability to relate. If a guy puts his head on your stomach, soon enough that head will feel so heavy, it hurts. The reality is that relationships are hard work with tremendous highs and desperate lows, incredible battles and moments of wonder and admiration. You have to take the whole package.
I've been married to Stacey Winkler for 30 years. The key to an enduring relationship is in the ear, not the heart or mind. How you think or feel about what you are saying is not what is important. What matters is how they hear it. After 30 years, there is only one reason to stay together - because you really want to.
The Fonz was the Yin to my Yang. He was everything I wanted to be because there was nothing cool about me growing up. I became good looking when I was 28, when Happy Days started. Suddenly girls were knocking on my hotel door. Being chased was wonderful with a capital W. Holy mackerel, yes! I was happy to take advantage of that for a couple of years.
I could never hang on to girlfriends. I was funny, but too intense. I wrote one girl 150 love letters, all of them misspelt, and waited like a puppy outside her classroom door. Turned out she was seeing someone else all along.
I learnt to have a sense of humour. As an undiagnosed dyslexic, you spend a third of your time trying to figure out what's wrong with you, a third of your time trying to figure out why you can't figure it out and the final third trying to cover up the shame and humiliation.
I vowed two things as a boy. The first was that I would be an actor, the second that I would never be like my parents. My father spoke 11 languages, my mother had no problem spelling. Their nickname for me was dummer hund - dumb dog, said often enough for it not to be funny. The idea that a child should be seen and not heard is arcane and barbaric.
My one word with which to live life would have to be tenacity. My parents were Jews who fled Nazi Germany in 1939. I learnt tenacity from them when what I needed was their pride.
George Stroumboulopoulos goes fearlessly — again — where many have gone before, but few have succeeded. Friday marks the official debut of Strombo’s new CNN interview programStroumboulopoulos, following a sneak preview last weekend. The preview did not reel in as many viewers as CNN and Strombo would have liked, but Friday is its regular day and time, and it’s on Fridays numbers the show will be judged.
Stroumboulopoulos follows in the trail of other talk shows, including a short-lived weekend program hosted by standup comedian and occasional political commentator D.L. Hughley, that landed a spot on CNN’s prime-time schedule but didn’t stay the course.
Stroumboulopoulos is part summer replacement program and part summer job for Strombo, who told a Toronto sports-radio station last week that he’ll resume his duties with CBC at the summer’s end. CBC’s George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight isn’t going away any time soon, in other words. It’s simply taking a summer break.
Of course, I am writing this while I'm watching my favorite CNN show of all time, Fred Whitfield and her legal boys, Richard and Avery....do you see how Fred treats those boys....
She makes them feel like a million dollars and they feel so happy and accomplished...they are ready to go out and face the world with confidence...
That's Fredricka Whitfield and her legal guys, Avery Friedman, civil
rights attorney out of Cleveland and defense attorney, Richard Herman
hailing form NY and LV. Its the best CNNSaturday morning show since STYLE WITH ELSA KLENSCH.
I recommend it highly. All the legal situations revealed on television
news shows today--they're so interesting but who understands them? I
always loved the show, BURDEN OF PROOF, with Greta Van Susteren and Roger Cossack; what a sad loss of interesting information when it ended.
Fred and her boys have successfully resurrected this very entertaining
format. They have a real good chemistry going on. The boys love Fred
and like any good mom, she challenges them to bring out their best--to
share their knowledge and let us all be better informed.
Mom's home.......
We could see the boys were longing for Fred when she recently went on
location--they liked the fill-in host and they performed well, but that
certain dynamic and spark were missing. They were so happy when Fred
was back to cheerfully prod the kids and then congratulate for a job
well done--mom was proud and the legal smiles went ear to ear.
Fred knows her stuff....
Like any beautiful and knowledgeable mom, she prods the guys with facts
to not only divulge information but engage in a polite, interesting and
informative repartee. By the time they're finished we have a good grasp
of the situation and a informed view to both sides of the issue.
Good job Fred!
I was particularly interested in Richard Herman's and Avery Friedman's outrage with Jerry Sandusky. Why? At first glance that program seems like such a good opportunity for kids--especially for a busy mom.

8-20-12...update..my sincere apologies for the misspelling of the name Avery Friedman. He provides us with good information each week, we are so lucky to have the chance to hear him speak,,,he deserves to have his name spelled correctly. cl
