Always watching the news:

No measuring cups needed:

an easy stir-up cake for afternoon tea and sewing with Reverend Al Sharpton and Politics Nation at 3 PM.

Ingredients:

A really large spoonful of any peanut butter, about 1/2 to 2/3 cup.

About 1/3 cup of sugar.

Coconut milk from a can (this is inexpensive and good to keep on hand for an easy curry dinner, coconut milk and the little curry cakes make an excellent, easy and quick gravy) just keep adding the coconut milk--a little at a time and keep stirring as the peanut butter is a little stiff and hard to stir at first.

Keep adding a little at a time and stirring until you have added about 1/2 cup but it does not have to be exact and there is no need to measure.

Mix together about 1 cup of flour with approx 1 teaspoon of salt (about a quarter size in the cup of your hand) and about 4 teaspoons or one tablespoon of baking powder.  Mix it together with anything just so the salt and baking powder is distributed evenly in the flour before you dump the flour in the mixing bowl.  The amount of baking powder to flour is the only thing to be careful with in measurement because if there is not enough baking powder the cake will not rise as there is no eggs and if there is too much it will have a tell tale baking powder taste after the cake is finished.  The is a pretty good cake so I did not want that to happen.

If the baking powder is lumpy smash it with a spoon in a little bowl or on a saucer to prevent anyone from getting a bite of a lump of baking powder.  It will taste very bad.

Now add a little water from a cup and keep stirring adding a little of the flour mixture alternately with more water until it looks like a regular cake batter.

Add about 3 very large handfuls of raisin bran and a handful of chocolate cheerios or any type of your favorite cereal--this part can be anything because the cheerios basically disappear.....about 3 cups of cereal.

Keep stirring until it is like a lumpy cake batter.  A little more water may be needed.

Pour in about 1 teaspoon of vanilla and stir well.

I just stirred up this cake by hand until it looked right as I did not have access to a mixer.

This makes a cake approximately the size of one 8 or 9 inck layer cake.

Use any pan of your choice that fits the bill--spray the pan with cooking spray and bake at 350 until it looks done--you can smell the cake cooking or a knife inserted near the center comes out clean or it has a tiny bit of spring to the touch.

So this cake is really good for breakfast and tea and it is really, really good warmed up in a micro or in a frying pan for 5 mins on low with a lid with a little sugar sprinkled on the top.

Try this cakes and add your tips, please.

I just wanted to make a cake and I used the ingredients I had on hand in the house--the thing is it came out really delicious.  I think it was the coconut milk that set it off.

What do you think--try it and let me know.

All cooking tips are appreciated........cl

Measuring cups can be used like spoons in this recipe but it does not have to be exact.

What is your afternoon tea cake or snack--can you share it with this blog, please?

O'Reilly Critic Chloelouise Re-Rants Self-Righteous Bill and Calls Him Out on Hate Talk To Rep Barbara Lee

so troubled by the use of the word...decent.....what does that mean.........

here is the original post from Ellen on Newshounds talking about O'Reilly and his rant against Representative Barbara Lee........click on this link to see the story and the comments.....

You use a lot of words and through it all your liberal anger toward everything decent comes through quite loudly. I don’t always agree with O’Reilly but he’s right in this case.

Read more at http://www.newshounds.us/bill_o_reilly_amps_up_his_race_war_against_rep_barbara_lee_03292014#mOrgHBJMBHVV8OV3.99

to Jim.....can you please explain your self a little more.   I just do not see the anger you are describing, however, I feel like Bill O. is very angry and not doing a very good job of hiding it.  Sometimes I do agree with BO but not too often.  On my blog, the ronnie re I do try to understand Bill and why he is so popular.  I must give him credit for his success and try to understand it.  What makes him tick.  Again, to me his underlying theme is his cherished Catholic guilt...but what he fails to understand is that the rest of us, or many people, are just not ruled by guilt.  This rant against Rep Lee is the same as his rant against Al Sharpton.....I hate to say it but there is a part of him that is very racist.  He just cannot give any credit at all to these individuals.  He can't even acknowledge some of their good work....no he has to yell about them being all bad.  In the first place that is unrealistic and the second place why?  Wouldn't he think Barbara Lee or Al Sharpton know something about the issues of the inner city and the people that live there.  That's what I don't get....his hatred...he just can't come to terms with the fact that these may be complex individuals that have done some good work.  Why does he put them in a box?  Why does he have to say those ugly words and denounce them in every way.....and then claim how much he loves Jesus and his righteousness in the next breath.  This is what I want to understand about Bill O'Reilly.  After watching him many times it as if he thinks an African-American individual cannot know anything unless they agree with him.  That is really what he says over and over again.  He is just disrespectful and it shows.  Thanks for your time......cl

On the other side contrast that with "the folks".....he claims he is the only one who is looking out for the folks.  Who are those people.  I guess Rep Lee and Rev Al are not included in his folks....do you see what I mean?  I always ask are his folks the ones paying 500 bucks a pop for the meet and greet portion of his bolder and fresher gig going around the country?

here is my open letter to o'reilly about Snoop Dogg:

if you take time to comment--agree or disagree--it's appreciated:

Sewing with Al Sharpton at 3PM and Blogging the Newsbusters

Sewing with Al Sharpton at 3PM and Blogging the Newsbusters.......it's a tough job but someone has to do it.

It took a lot of thinking to reply and thank you for your beautiful response.  Actually I did not watch Rev. Al Sharpton too often as it did not fit in my day schedule, but after Bill kept berating him I became more curious, even though I basically did enjoy Rev. Al and liked him.

I also watch Chris Matthews each day on MSNBC so I changed my routine so I could see what was going on.  Well, as a dem I did like his show and then as time passed i noticed Reverend Al Sharpton was quite an inspirational and humble individual, as I just kept casually listening to his words.

He has said he has made errors and he is sorry about that, he has said he likes to keep fighting for civil rights not just about race but about anyone that has been judged unfairly and he also used Gandhi and non-violence as a model.

He is also quite inspirational talking about his diet and like me, he did not have a dad and he really enjoyed and valued the attention he received from James Brown.

I do not know if you listen to the Jesus Christ Show but like that radio show on Sun mornings right before CBS Sunday Morning, Rev Al has offered me a certain peace--not just talking about politics but about life, in general.

I do not think anyone could say he has not worked hard for civil rights--agree or disagree--and it is a wonderful thing to have the first African-American President in the White House.  I imagine he was very proud to go to the state dinner.

On that idea, alone, regardless of political affiliation, can't Bill O'Reilly, Levin and others be happy for Reverend Al and other people that are simply so happy about President Obama.

For Bill O'Reilly to constantly try to minimize the effects of past racism in America is just not right or realistic.

Just in South Africa in recent times people have suffered.

Not talking about politics, now, but shouldn't we acknowledge this injustice just as Jesus would have noticed these situations.

So again, why does Bill constantly have to rant about his hatred of Reverend Al Sharpton and call him a thug.  It is hurtful to me.

Again, Bill is acting like an arrogant teenager in the ilk of Eddie Haskell who cannot come to terms with life.

This is where I am coming from........

and now I have Sewing with Al Sharpton at 3PM and

the tea party with Chris Matthews at 4.

Bill O at 5, finish with

Piers Morgan at 6 and then the

big dog walk at 7.........unless Ronnie starts bugging me earlier then everything gets all messed up.

Yes, I do find the words of Al Sharpton to be soothing.

I hope you respond      and thank you for your discussion.

Bill O'Reilly: Word of the day--Grace--you have none.

Writing to Erik Wemple of the Washington Post trying to attract attention.......

I'm really writing about O'Reilly.

What did you think of Geraldo last Fri calling out O'Reilly on disrespect during his interview with the President.

I thought it needed to be said.  I watched that interview and I felt like Bill was baiting our President for a gang brawl.

Something about it really made me sick.

Last evening talking abut the state dinner he referred to Rev Al Sharpton as a thug.

Word of the day...grace....Bill has none.

He is constantly poking a stick in the eye of black America.

I thought Geraldo hit the nail on the head when he said he is the first African-American President and this is a huge deal.

Just wondering if you will write about it because people will pay attention to what you say.

It hurts my feelings.

Right, I do write about it but you might have a few more readers.

N'DIGO's Hermene Hartman on Bill O'Reilly: I Support President Obama and Reverend Jeremiah Wright

The Return of Reverend Wright
Guest: Hermene Hartman
To commemorate Martin Luther King Day, a Chicago teachers union hired none other than Reverend Jeremiah Wright, who proceeded to condemn President Obama for his use of drones. The Factor debated the decision to invite Wright with magazine publisher Hermene Hartman. "You've said Reverend Wright is anti-American," Hartman protested, "but that's not true. He has pointed out 'bad America' - dropping bombs on people and slavery is 'bad America.' He's not saying anything wrong. America is a great country, but has been a bad country in some instances." The Factor insisted that Wright is a serial America-basher: "If you listen to his sermons, you come away with him saying America is a bad nation. Every country has done some bad things, but according to Reverefrond Wright it's all bad and nothing good."

here is a link to the page including a video of the interview with Hermene Hartman:

..................................................

So very, very honored to speak with Hermene Hartman today about her appearance on Bill O'Reilly, Fox news, last evening, Jan 15, 2014.

Burning with questions:

Why did you go on the show?

HH:  I was invited and I welcomed the opportunity to talk about Reverend Wright and I wanted to correct some misconceptions.

Were you afraid?

HH:  No.

HH:  I feel like Reverend Wright has been misinterpreted and misquoted.

Could not resist asking about her credentials compared to O'Reilly on this particular subject.

HH:  I am a former sociology professor but I have been working for the newspaper for 25 years.  In the past Bill O'Reilly has been invited to the church of Reverend Wright but he refused to visit.

Hermene Hartman said I welcomed the opportunity to talk about race but Bill O'Reilly should let the people actually answer the question if he wants the true value of their statement.  He has got to let the person speak or he is not really understanding what they are trying to say.

Hermene Hartman wanted to talk about the perception of race and the perception of Jeremiah Wright.

She said in the show she does support President Obama and Reverend Jeremiah Wright but their statements have been misinterpreted by Mr. O'Reilly--he is missing the true value of their statements.

Reverend Wright is trying to say that America is a great country but there have been wrong acts committed by the government on the issue of race, gays, women's rights and during the time of war.

I would definitely include in this the Japanese concentration camps during World War II.

Ms. Hartman mentioned the bombing of Nagasaki as a wrong and unfortunate act along with rules of segregation which existed in the past.

I felt like Ms Hartman wanted to promote the idea that while we love our country it is okay to talk about and define acts by our government that have hurt others and particular segments of the society. She was not saying she did not like America or disagree with the policies but to acknowledge mistreatment of others by the government if it does, in fact exist, is a good thing.

In the long run it is a good thing to talk about it.

The question:  Would Mr. O"Reilly agree or disagree if he had actually let her talk and receive the true value of the statement of Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

The United States has done things and made rules that are not correct for women, gays and involving race and people of color--we are making a lot of changes in our laws now.

We are in a free country and allowed to speak--that is one of the great things about the United States.  This philosophy lets progress take place.

Like Nelson Mandela, Dr.Martin Luther King and Jesus, Reverend Wright would like to challenge these incorrect acts.

Everything today is not hunky dory but we are making progress according to Hermene Hartman.

I could not help but ask Ms. Hartman how she felt about Bill O'Reilly's constant angry rant on Reverend Al Sharpton.

HH:  Bill O'Reilly does seem to have a problem with strong black men--it is also a matter of politics and entertainment.

I said.....do you know Reverend Wright and what would you like people to know about him?

HH:  Reverend Wright is a brilliant man and a scholar and he is not afraid to challenge things that are incorrect in our country.  He is not afraid to call it as he sees it.  He is a very nice man.

HH:  Bill is taking Reverend Wright out of context.

She also said in the past Mr. O'Reilly has indeed been invited to the church of Reverend Wright but he has not come.  She went on--he is welcome to come to the church and see what is going on and find out what Reverend Wright is all about.  Ms. Hartman felt like O'Reilly really did not have all of the facts to properly speak about Jeremiah Wright.

I concluded by asking her what do you think of race in America today.

HH:  We have definitely made progress.  We do not have laws of segregation as we did in the past--but whether we like it or not race and prejudice is ingrained in our society.  In the past Dr. King spoke of total integration without prejudice but she thinks now it is more reasonable to go with the idea of Nelson Mandela--to live in a race free society by acknowledging  that race exists.  We have perceptions and prejudices that are going to last for a long, long time--it cannot be ignored.

She gave the example of Trayvon Martin--the rules have changed but he was killed on perception.  The law is now that anyone of any color can legally go into any neighborhood or area of town.  The perception has not necessarily changed and Trayvon Martin was murdered on the idea he was not really supposed to be there--even though that was his home.

Thank you to Hermene Hartman for taking time to chat with me about your very insightful interview on the Bill O'Reilly show on Fox News.

It was wonderful to see you on the The Factor and hear your take on Reverend Wright and President Obama.

Ms. Hartman said that I may also visit the church and I am very excited about that--not to mention I love Chicago.

O'Reilly "goes O'Reilly" on Al Sharpton

Talking about Mr. Bill O'Reilly spinning the brilliant reception of President Obama in South Africa at the ceremonies for Nelson Mandela.

He was received as a world leader--black citizens of all countries are part of the world--that is where you are making your miscalculation--who are the citizens of the world--not just the "folks" of Mr. O'Reilly. One must take their head out of the sand at these times.

Unfortunately Bill shows his colors in a strange and weird way once in a great while.  During the 50th of the JFK assassination Bill said on on more than one occasion that the sentiment of the nation towards Barack Obama was the same as it was right before Kennedy was killed.  He said it twice and when a listener wrote in to complain he said it again more adamantly defending his position.

What exactly was he trying to say.  It was reported in The Ronnie Republic but not noticed in the major networks or publications.  Bill very much wanted to talk about some people's dissatisfaction with our President but he did  not mention the great praise he received just this week at the stadium  for Nelson Mandela.  It was strange when all of  the networks were showing  the adulation for our first black President and commenting on this great  accomplishment that Bill had to take this opportunity to say Nelson Mandela was a communist.  Instead of reporting on the grand reception of President  Obama, like all of the other news outlets Mr O'Reilly went on a hate filled rant against the Reverend Al Sharpton.

Bill can't say the hate he feels to President Obama or he would be in big trouble.  No, he rails on Al Sharpton endlessly.  It is quite ugly at this time.

Not to mention he claims he has the no spin zone and the news is fair and balanced  on his show and  truthful.

His reporting is the biggest example of "spin" out there.  Nice try, Bill, but you were caught on this one.

Breaking Bad: The US vs The UK

Breaking Bad:  The US vs The UK

Laws that allow vigilante justice against kids.

Conservative right-wing talk shows that are culturally insensitive and happy about it.

Health Care for everyone.

Guns.

Street Cams.

To put it mildly; is Britain a more sophisticated nation than the United States?

Are we the wild, wild west?

America, America, America.......the right wingers are always talking about saving America, the freedom of America, taking back America.  Wake up and see who and what America is--we are a beautiful coat of many colors.  To quote Rachel Jeantel these old white ROWGs are old school--outdated and out of style.....not to mention embarrassing.

Thank goodness we have President Obama and Eric Holder, people in power, people of color, mixed color, the color of America, who can actually do something about it--change laws, promote equality, nominate judges.   That’s the best thing we have done.  We have elected President Obama in an act of forward thinking.

Let’s move our country forward to equal rights for all, for all children, towards sophistication--let’s move out of the wild, wild west some are so proud of and fearful of losing and to a forward thinking country of education, equal opportunities, cultural sensitivity and laws that prevent vigilante justice against children.

Some of these right wing haters--you know the names--if they would bother to listen to the words of Reverend Al Sharpton they would see he has a lot of very interesting things to say--soothing words that are really needed right now in this time of anger and everyone taking sides.

We have an opportunity now to see the world through the eyes of others, not just through the white prism--we have a chance to gain knowledge and cultural sensitivity.  What is wrong with that.  Isn't that sophistication and isn't that a good thing.

talking about stand your ground and my disdain at laws that allow vigilante justice against kids..........
