To CNN: Please Hire Ann Curry

According to a new book about the world of network morning shows, ousted "Today" show co-host Ann Curry described her final days regularly appearing on the show as "professional torture."
An excerpt of the book "Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV," by New York Times reporter Brian Stelter, appearing in the New York Times Magazine, says the main person behind Curry's ouster was "Today" executive producer Jim Bell, who called his plan to get rid of Curry "Operation Bambi."
The reason for the name? Staffers believed getting rid of Curry would be like shooting Bambi.

Among the other revelations in the report: Bell created a blooper reel of Curry's on-camera mistakes and created a photo of Curry in a yellow dress alongside a picture of Big Bird asking the question, "Who wore it better?" The book also says Bell denies these actions.
The excerpt also describes how Curry arrived at 30 Rockefeller Plaza one day last month without her ID and had to present herself to the security guard and had to spell her name.
Curry's tearful departure from "Today" last summer was the start of a public relations disaster for the once-mighty morning show as it tumbled to second place behind ABC's "Good Morning America."
And though Bell takes most of the blame for Curry getting the bum's rush, some of the blame is placed at the feet of co-host Matt Lauer, whose lack of chemistry with Curry and indifference to her role on the show helped seal her fate.
The whole nasty episode damaged Lauer's reputation with the public, as he joked at a UJA Federation of New York’s Broadcast Cable & Film Division event that his own Q rating (or measure of his popularity with the public) was below polio.
Although Curry remains with NBC News, she has appeared on the air only  a handful of times since her departure from "Today" last summer.

BRAVO TO CNN FOR HIRING ANN CURRY

Congratulations to CNN for being soooooo smart.......

Ann Curry Begs NBC To Release Her From Her Contract

Posted: Jan 01, 2013 8:48 AM PST Updated: Jan 01, 2013 8:48 AM PST
MAILONLINE.COM - Ann Curry is begging NBC bosses to let her out of her contract so she can accept a high-profile anchor job at CNN.
Curry is reportedly earmarked for Anderson Cooper's coveted 8pm slot at the rival TV station by her former Today show boss, Jeff Zucker, who will take over as president of CNN Worldwide in February.
If she quits without the green light from NBC, a clause in her contract bans her from working for any other news outlet.
'Ann wants out of her contract, big time,' a source close to the situation told RadarOnline. 'She has formally asked her attorney to explore exit options from the network.'
But the website claims NBC bosses are unwilling to release Curry without a fight.
'If Ann were to just quit, there is a non-compete clause, which would prohibit her from working for another news outlet for two years,' the insider said.
Zucker, previously executive producer at the Today show and one-time head of NBC Universal, wants to put Curry in the prime-time 8pm slot currently occupied by Anderson Cooper, RadarOnline reported.
Curry's lawyers are arguing that her dramatic demotion from Today in April was in fact a breach of her contract terms by NBC.
'Ann's lawyer feels that there is a very strong case to be made that NBC has breached terms of the deal because Curry was demoted from TodaToday is set to finish the year trailing its rival Good Morning America. Curry was dumped as co-anchor of the NBC morning show after Today lost its top spot, as bosses thought a fresh face may bring back viewers.

BRAVO TO CNN FOR HIRING ANN CURRY.......
I have always said CNN is a beautiful coat of many colors representing the coat of many color that is the United States of America.  All ages, all people, all religions--all of the news for everybody--that is CNN.  I just love it and that is what it should be.  To me they seem to be a caring network and I like that and that is how I like to get my news and information and that is why I watch them.

Example:  Wold Blitzer inquiring about Hillary Clinton.  He said he was worried about Mrs. Clinton and wanted to know what was going on.  That was very nice and I appreciated it.  I am very proud to say I have been a Hillary girl forever and I really appreciated the kind sentiment.

Good job CNN!!!  Happy New Year to all of my beautiful and knowledgeable news ladies of CNN.

The Bold and the Beautiful---Candy Crowley

The Bold and the Beautiful---Candy Crowley If I may be so bold.....I can't wait to see, my girl and CNN's Candy Crowley moderate the upcoming presidential debate this week. I have admired her for so long and she is right where she should be in the big leagues of news presiding over the most important news event of the week---or the year if I have it my way the year when President Obama knocks it out of the ball park and ties up the election winning another four years for the Dems. Enough about me....CNN is my channel and I have been watching it forever. Candy is absolutely one of the brightest lights for women in journalism. Her colleagues often comment about her brilliant news writing skills and her astute talent for journalism. She has the ability to get the information out of her interviewees without incriminating them--she will easily be the most skilled of all of the debate moderators. Candy speaks out and shows off her talents to women around the world. We can say a prayer for this beautiful and smart teenage girl who was recently wounded by the Taliban for speaking out, as well. I love it when the teenagers talk. I like CNN for having news moderators and stories about young people around the world---talking, speaking and making progress for young women and people everywhere. CNN is the news for everyone everywhere. -- chloelouise

To CNN--Hire Ann Curry--Put Her in the Big Leagues Where She Belongs

I watch the news all day or I listen to the radio and watch a few shows in the night--I don't know why I am just a news person, always have been.

I previously wrote to you about the compassion often shown from your great reporter, Martin Savidge.  You have so many real good journalists in all shapes and sizes and ages.  Well, that is the shape of our country, isn't it.

Why not hire Ann Curry and show off her talents.  I often write in my blog about the way women are treated.  I think it would be good for your network and good for her.

I quit watching shows like "Today" a long time ago, because there is really no substance to those shows.  There is no Wolf Blitzer, Candy Crowley Andrea Mitchell, or Chris Mathews, if you know what I mean..........or the one with equally stunning earrings and interview skills, Leslie Stahl.

Does the dinosaur, NBC, really have a grasp on the current thinking and trends of the media today?  I would not even consider watching "Today" now, after the way they treat people.

Anyway, just a thought, but I think it would show forward thinking of your network and you would have a real, real good reporter, or even give her a big position or her own show.  Put Ann Curry in the big leagues where she belongs.

Respectfully,

Chloelouise
