George Strombo--What a Loss for CNN

Though he definitely identifies with his Ontario roots, George Stroumboulopoulos says it’s important to him to get out west a few times every year.
“It’s funny, because I’m a Toronto boy in all the senses of the word. But Vancouver, and the Pacific Northwest, there’s been a vibe here that I’ve really identified with,” he said. “I like the way people connect to each other here. It’s just more chill. It’s definitely more laid back.”
Stroumboulopoulos was in town this month to help out with CBC’s annual Open House and Food Bank Day, where he was frequently stopped in his tracks by admiring fans who waned to say ‘hello’ to George. He invariably stopped, engaged them, asked them their names.
He’s had a soft spot for B.C., he said, going back to his early days in broadcasting.
Fresh out of school in Toronto, Strombo moved west to take his first radio job at a rock station in Kelowna, 104.7 FM The Lizard, where he hosted a metal show called High Voltage.
Stroumboulopoulos expressed his admiration for Vancouver’s restaurants (especially veggie spots like The Naam and The Foundation), local music (especially punk bands like DOA and SNFU), and B.C.’s public broadcaster, the Knowledge Network).
The 41-year-old broadcaster also made a recent trip to B.C. to work on an upcoming project with another famous local, Michael Bublé.
The Burnaby-bred crooner has appeared several times on Stroumboulopoulos’ show over the years, and the two have hit it off, Stroumboulopoulos said. They’ve watched and talked hockey together — Strombo’s a massive Habs fan, while Bublé's a lifelong Canucks backer.
During the 2010 Olympics, Stroumboulopoulos said Bublé even let him crash at his place while he was in Vancouver.
“I had no real plans on coming here, then I bumped into him and he was like, ‘Go stay at my place,’ ” he said. “(Bublé) just left the keys at the front, and . . . let me crash.”

Wll Ferrell and George Strombo: Just Two Really Hip-Hop Guys

Will Ferrell to George Stroumboulopoulos: ‘I’m pretty hip-hop’

Ron Burgundy stayed classy in Toronto by announcing that he is a "badass."
Will Ferrell was promoting "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" on "George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight" this week, and the actor discussed a vital scene at the end of his new film that features a legendary rapper (whom Ferrell didn't identify). In the interview, the actor admitted that he has quite a bit of street cred himself.
"I'm pretty hip-hop. When you look at me you think, 'He's bad-ass,'" Ferrell said in the interview, which airs on CBC on Monday.
The 46-year-old actor said he considered it "high praise" that he has been mentioned in songs like "N---as in Paris" by Kanye West and Jay Z.
"For some reason, lines from the movies we've done and characters have been referenced by the hip-hop community through so many songs," Ferrell said. "I don't know why necessarily, but it's fantastic."

Ferrell has been promoting his new film, which premieres Dec. 18, across Canada over the past week. On Sunday, he wore a kilt to Winnipeg's curling event Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings while in character as Ron Burgundy. "I tell you, Winnipeg is the Paris of Canada," he said.
A day later, the actor also spoke to the Toronto Star about Rob Ford, for whom Ron Burgundyrecently sang a re-election campaign song, "Working for the Weekend," on Conan O'Brien's show.
"I’m just amazed at Toronto, considering it’s such a sophisticated city, and that’s the mayor," he told the Star. "It’s hilarious."
Ferrell actually met Ford back in July 2012, while he and Zach Galifianakis promoted their film "The Campaign" in Toronto. But something tells us they probably won't be meeting this time around.

A suivre ............

George Stroumboulopoulos on CNN Tonight: Cooper and Morgan's Secret Looks War and Conspiracy to Keep Him Off the Air

Will CNN Play Strombo Tonight.....

Will CNN play Strombo tonight, it is listed in my TV Guide, or will AC and PM continue their quest to bannish Strombo from the network and only broadcast their shows endlessly?

Now, here is the problem.....we have a "special report" of anderson cooper listed at 7PM, right before Strombo.

Instead of watching just one new show of Strombo, we have endless reruns of AC360.....special reports of anderson cooper,  Pier Morgan will be shown at least 2 times...

This is obviously a conspiracy on the part of the whitey-white boys, people from other planets (or brits) to ban anyone, cute, a good-interviewer, and the worst offense of all, having a tan, from the American airwaves.

That's how all of the conspiracies work...there is no reason to it, it's not like there is not room on a 24/7 channel to just have one new show.....no, AC and PM want it all!

They don't care how good the show is--if he's a real good interviewer--they're simply not having it!  Piers and Anderson were seen exiting the office of Jeff Zucker giggling and giving each other a high five and Piers was reported to have said "Bang-on."  The observer is remaining annonymous out of fear for their job.....everything is on background right now.

No, it's sad......

Sad for the viewer to have such limited choices.

The questions remain..........

Does ac360 stand for a show, "cobot" model or the model of the spaceship he drives?

Is it true that even though AC and Piers Morgan are reportedly in a bitter fued to control the network they have both agreed to ban George Stroumbouloupolous solely on his ability to get a tan, on his own, naturally?

What does all of this have to do with the earth-mother, Cher?

How many Cher's are there....we've all seen the pictures....right?

Who are Anderson's real parents and what is his real place of origin?

To be continued............

Please feel free to comment if you have information on the subject--your privacy will be protected.

Will CNN Run Strombo Tonight?

Will CNN run Strombo tonight or will they play a repeat of AC 360 and Piers Morgan endlessly....

The age old question remains....

Now they have Strombo listed on the TV Guide schedule on my comp as far as one can see.....but.......that is what they often do and then........endless repeats of AC and PM...why?

Obviously, PM and AC have a thing against Canadians that are cute and do good television interviews.  That has to be the reason....what else is there.

Seriously, they often claim breaking news, but how many times to we have to see the exact same show......it's down to memory by the second complete rerun of the thing.

It must be PM and AC are egomaniacs and even though they are both cute and skilled interviewers that can't stand the idea that someone other than them might be just a little bit better looking and a very adept and qualified interviewer and from Canada to boot.

It seems Anderson Cooper and Piers Morgan have a secret pact not to let George Strombo on the air on CNN.  They've got to grow up and get over their jealousy.  It's okay to have a little competition.

Can Strombo break through the AC-PM glass ceiling.  We will just have to wait and see tonight......

CNN Should Stop Ditching Strombo For Anderson Cooper

The best interviewer on television today is hands down and without a doubt George Stombo........and unfortunately for the viewers CNN keeps ditching him for Anderson Cooper.

Yes, Anderson is great and he recently did a brilliant and inspirational interview with Antoinette Tuff, but after seeing it three times I was ready for George and had planned my evening around his show with Lisa Kudrow.

It would be nice if they would stop ditching George for Anderson Cooper--if they want to show AC360 24/7 then let them throw out someone else for George once in a while.  Thy've got to shift their focus from Anderson now and then--or make the AC channel and then another channel for the rest of us with Anderson only on once a day like all of the other shows.  Please--he is not the only game in town.

If the reader does not agree I suggest watching George Strombo do an interview and then get back to me.  He seems genuinely interested and lets the guest talk...a lot.  Seriously, how rare is that in television today?  If its your favorite person...Larry King, Lisa, Tavis Smiley, Henry Winkler..the viewer will end up with interesting and useful info....right, the guest does not seem tired and worn out and rote, as often happens in these kind of things....okay that's my take what's yours?

I dare you to watch him and think differently.  CNN needs to find their head and put it on regarding this one.  Love you CNN but......its time for a good ADD med...calm down and stick to a schedule.

PS--Antoinette Tuff is absolutely a hero and should be praised by everyone--we all can learn something from her.  She is a beautiful example and I do not want to diminish her life saving of students and accomplishments in any way--but enough of Anderson, already.

That's Messed Up...CNN Nixes Strombo Again!

Looking forward to watching Strombo Friday night on CNN with everyone's favorite Lisa Kudrow, but no.....CNN nixes Strombo again for reruns of AC and Piers Morgan....now those are good shows but they are reruns.....AC for the 3rd time!!!  When will CNN come to their senses and leave a good new show alone?

CNN's Strombo is Brilliant: The Watcher is the Winner

It has to be said.....

CNN's George Strombo is the best interviewer on television today.  He's good, as in amazing and brilliant and the show format is good, too.

The result:  plenty of information--sometimes inspirational information.

The people on his show, the guests seem to have a gusto--a zip in their conversation that one just does not see that often on television today.  Frankly, is is not only refreshing but really enjoyable.

George gives the viewer the feeling he is actually excited to hear what the guest has to say--I feel like he is genuine.  Strombo has the rare gift and foresight to not make the show about himself--the television watcher is the winner.

As a constant news watcher and radio listener I am personally really glad CNN put this show back on the air.  I look forward to watching it every Friday night, now, if I am familiar with the guest or not--and I'll tell you what--I have enjoyed it every single time and I have learned a lot, too.

The exciting news tonight--Tavis Smiley will be starting a radio talk show........

I can always find a new take on things after Tavis talks.  In his early years he was inspired to try to help people and make a statement after his dear friend was killed--shot in the back 21 times in self-defense by the police.  He also shared how he tried very hard to put Harrison Ford at ease when he could see that he was really stressed about his impending interview.  Tavis and George love radio talk shows and I do, too.  I can't wait to hear your new show, Tavis.

Kevin Smith gave a very moving interview talking about his parents and his family that he loves very much. He has so much to say it is easy to see how he can show emotions and make movies.  He talked about following his dreams and he inspired me to try and do the same thing, as well.

Maria Bello shared her story about starting out in an acting career and almost giving up at one point.  Now she feels so grateful that she has achieved success in her career she wants to do something good with her notoriety by helping women in Haiti.

Thank you George--good job, as usual--I really like your show.

(why is this show good?  one gets the impression the truth is being told...the truth is always energizing)

Note to CNN: Please keep Strombo

Just can't resist asking....what about Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren? I really think that is the best television show I have ever seen, but I also am not a Sopranos expert and I know everyone loves that one, too.

I really like Strombo and I think he is a great interviewer and CNN is lucky to have him. Most radio and television interviewers really never get to that level of actually having a lengthy informational chat with a guest without either talking the whole time themselves or insulting the guest or somehow making them uncomfortable.

The show then becomes about the host. George let Henry Winkler and Larry King and Aisha Tyler say information that can be useful and inspirational to the average viewer--that is really pretty high up in the talk show world.

I would say he is in the category of Larry King and Johnny Carson.

Good job to George and I hope CNN comes to their senses and keeps him on.

here is what I put on my blog if you would like to read it....

Finally, CNN comes to its senses and plays George Strombo

Finally...CNN gets a clue and plays George Stombo

and..........as I predicted.....

waiting, waiting, waiting weeks........

first its on, then its off, then its on........

the show was excellent.  George Stroumboulopoulos is a brilliant interviewer.

Oh, he leans in........

Seriously, he has this interview thing down to a science.  Of course, I love Larry King, just like me he loves to ask questions, but, I do not know if he always loves  to have the table turned.  George conducted an excellent interview--Larry was very comfortable and we were so lucky to find out interesting things about his early life, how Larry feels about live television, working, even though he is no longer just starting out and just what makes him tick.

George's interview with Aisha Tyler, beautiful comedian and actress, writer and extraordinary personality was also brilliant.  This lady has so much to offer and George asked all the right questions.  She likes to make people feel comfortable and feel like they belong.  I enjoyed both of these interviews because they got to talk and tell their thoughts.  I really liked Aisha--she is actually inspirational.

His third interview with fight promoter Dana White was informational and scary as well, as he told about being intimidated for 2,500.00 by thugs of Whitey Bolger at the ripe old age of 21.  He immediately left town that day.

George Strombo has the knack for making the guest feel comfortable and that secret that most talk show hosts (not Larry King)  often never, ever get--to let the guest give us their very personable information that we can use--it might apply to us and be helpful and that's the coolest thing to achieve on a talk show.

George is serious and he acts interested--to put it simply--he is really very good.

Thank you CNN, for finally putting on the new George Strombo show--please don't take it off now that I like it and look forward to good info and talk.

Thank you George, that was a good job and I enjoyed seeing your new show.

Strombo and Larry King Disappear Again--What is going on at CNN..................

What is going on at CNN..................

I am very angry about CNN canceling Strombo with Larry King for the second time---what goes--they advertised it all week and from what I can see, nixed it at the last minute for AC and more Zimmerman coverage.  It was scheduled for 8 PM Pacific Time.

They have had plenty of trial coverage--I know that is important, too.  They are overdoing Anderson Cooper for everyone else.  What do you think?

I noticed they also canceled Anthony Bourdain, while I am not particularly a personal fan of his, the show on Libya was extremely interesting and informative........I think they should put some of these shows on the Saturday line-up like they used to .

A few years ago I used to watch CNN all Saturday with travel shows and fashion........it was a good Sat off work.   What are your thoughts and do you know what happened...........the ronnie republic

Of course, this would be a Saturday line-up headed by Fredricka Whitfield and the legal guys, Richard Herman and Avery Friedman..............

I'm still waiting for "Style with Elsa Klench" to come back to Saturdays--that was the best show they have ever had, they already have the format set up with "Fashion Backstage Pass with Alina Cho"--A "Siskel and Ebert" type movie show would be perfect for Saturday;  everyone getting ready to go out to the movies.   The afternoon can wrap-up with Don Lemon--do not take Don Lemon away, I love his "Take" on things as Fareed says.......

CNN--you have got to get with the program.

Henry Winkler to CNN's George Strombo: I Really Don't Care For My Parents

If Fonzie can say it I can say it, too.

Henry Winkler Talks Parenting on George Strombo's New CNN Show

TV Friday: CNN raises the curtain on Strombo’s new show — again

Stroumboulopoulos promises lively, smart talk on host's own terms

On his CNN show, George Stroumboulopoulos decides whom he talks to, for how long, and what they can talk about.

Henry Winkler on the new show of CNN.......I'm just calling it the George Strombo show......

Well, it was real good and Henry Winkler was particularly good, interesting and informative.  He does not really care for his parents.  While this news may hurt some people's feelings it was music to my ears.

Right, to me, enough people do not talk about this kind of thing....

You are a kid, you know something is wrong, you have food and some clothes, but life is so confusing you can't get on with it.....

That's right, you're stifled, stopped, what's going on, I can't stand it.....it leads to a life of total confusion...do you know how many people told me, when I was a kid.....you need to have more self-confidence?  After a while I just said yes; really, I had no clue what they were talking about, I finally started agreeing to get on with it and get away from the stupid adult without arguing and getting in trouble....

You can't say you do not like your parents to most people.........

It's against the Bible....

I finally learned that.  I kept trying to talk about it and no one wanted to listen.  Because most people do love their parents even though they may have made a few mistakes.  They think you are unnatural, an oddity, mentally ill.....but in my case it didn't help that mother kept going behind my back and telling everyone I was mentally ill...mentally ill and dirty.

I'm embarrassed to write this...

Enough about me, but thank you to Henry Winkler and George.

Good job to George, Henry and CNN.

here is some more things about Henry and I copied it from Imdb...

I love being a parent. (April 2007)
There is a gigantic learning curve for parents, knowing when to shut up. My son Max says to me, "Every time you talk to my friends, there has to be a life lesson. Can't you just say hello?"
I was 31 when I realised I wasn't stupid. Dyslexia was diagnosed in me, along with my stepson Jed and, as it turns out, in all our children. They've had the same confidence issues I had. You can't protect them from that, but what you can do is tell them they're fantastic 15 times a day.
American movies have destroyed people's ability to relate. If a guy puts his head on your stomach, soon enough that head will feel so heavy, it hurts. The reality is that relationships are hard work with tremendous highs and desperate lows, incredible battles and moments of wonder and admiration. You have to take the whole package.
I've been married to Stacey Winkler for 30 years. The key to an enduring relationship is in the ear, not the heart or mind. How you think or feel about what you are saying is not what is important. What matters is how they hear it. After 30 years, there is only one reason to stay together - because you really want to.
The Fonz was the Yin to my Yang. He was everything I wanted to be because there was nothing cool about me growing up. I became good looking when I was 28, when Happy Days started. Suddenly girls were knocking on my hotel door. Being chased was wonderful with a capital W. Holy mackerel, yes! I was happy to take advantage of that for a couple of years.
I could never hang on to girlfriends. I was funny, but too intense. I wrote one girl 150 love letters, all of them misspelt, and waited like a puppy outside her classroom door. Turned out she was seeing someone else all along.
I learnt to have a sense of humour. As an undiagnosed dyslexic, you spend a third of your time trying to figure out what's wrong with you, a third of your time trying to figure out why you can't figure it out and the final third trying to cover up the shame and humiliation.
I vowed two things as a boy. The first was that I would be an actor, the second that I would never be like my parents. My father spoke 11 languages, my mother had no problem spelling. Their nickname for me was dummer hund - dumb dog, said often enough for it not to be funny. The idea that a child should be seen and not heard is arcane and barbaric.
My one word with which to live life would have to be tenacity. My parents were Jews who fled Nazi Germany in 1939. I learnt tenacity from them when what I needed was their pride.
here is a link to that page on Imdb:

George Stroumboulopoulos goes fearlessly — again — where many have gone before, but few have succeeded. Friday marks the official debut of Strombo’s new CNN interview programStroumboulopoulos, following a sneak preview last weekend. The preview did not reel in as many viewers as CNN and Strombo would have liked, but Friday is its regular day and time, and it’s on Fridays numbers the show will be judged.
Stroumboulopoulos follows in the trail of other talk shows, including a short-lived weekend program hosted by standup comedian and occasional political commentator D.L. Hughley, that landed a spot on CNN’s prime-time schedule but didn’t stay the course.
Stroumboulopoulos is part summer replacement program and part summer job for Strombo, who told a Toronto sports-radio station last week that he’ll resume his duties with CBC at the summer’s end. CBC’s George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight isn’t going away any time soon, in other words. It’s simply taking a summer break.

talking about good moms........
Of course, I am writing this while I'm watching my favorite CNN show of all time, Fred Whitfield and her legal boys, Richard and Avery....do you see how Fred treats those boys....

She makes them feel like a million dollars and they feel so happy and accomplished...they are ready to go out and face the world with confidence...
Good job Fred...you're a good mom.
