Bernie and Sid: Enter the Rude and Crude--WABC Radio New York City

So were these two radio rough riders sold to WABC News/Talk Radio at bargain basement prices, or what?

Because whatever this station is paying for these two wanna be talk jays is way too much.

Not only are they dull, dumb and boring but they are way over the line in bashing women.

No, they are not going to talk about my girl Greta Van Susteren in a negative fashion--mentioning her appearance as if they were Brad Pitt.

I guess WABC thought intellectual was way too expensive but in the long run without Geraldo Rivera and his investigative reporting sills and extensive knowledge of current events this station will not only suffer the ire of folks who do not want to hear women being trashed on a daily basis but also any one seeking any kind of information resembling news.

Their boys bathroom talk gets old fast and if their goal is humor they are far from it.

Seriously, it seems like WABC was trying to recreate the very successful, knowledgeable, funny and informative Curtis and Kuby Show that immediately follows but they are far from achieving success.

Sad for New York, WABC and an example for News/Talk Radio everywhere.

Predictably, this show will not last--it is way too embarrassing.

Geraldo Rivera may have been expensive and worth it but these two bozos are really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

WABC had plenty of skilled radio folks as in Larry Kudlow, the beautiful Rita Cosby, Noam Laden always does a fine job and can talk on both sides of issue without insulting the listeners, and Joan Hamburg, as well--what were they thinking.

A variety of folks would have been fine, too....there is plenty of talent available.

Let these boys clean up their act, talk to a few news/talk experts, get some expertise and then they can have a show.

What a sad day for WABC, the listeners, women, and talk radio, in general--Let's think this thing through, WABC, before we make these important decisions.

Brilliant show today from Noam Laden on 77 WABC New York News/Talk Radio.

Calling out Donald Trump on his ridiculous accusations about different groups of citizens in the United States, the last one being Muslims.

Setting a very poor example for someone aiming for the highest office in our country to single out certain groups in Hitler style fear mongering.

Some of the most offensive statements to this blog writer is the disrespect he directs toward a sitting President of the United States.

Seriously, someone I voted for twice and someone this blog lady stands behind 100 per cent.

Standing with President Barck Obama.

Noam Laden said today that police officers in New York City have to be removed from their regular posts in order to protect certain mosques that have received threats from angered citizens.Image result for noam laden

Noam is suggesting some of this anger rests with donald trump after stirring up the population by asking for Muslims to be banned from our country......Muslim children are afraid and a violent attack may ensue.

People, this is not right.  donald makes false claims.

At the end of the day, WABC might want to consider the fact that they already have plenty of home grown talent to fill the void of Geraldo Rivera--Noam Laden always does an excellent job of creating stimulating conversation about current news issues.  Like Geraldo, Noam Laden can handle the callers--agree or disagree without anger and shouting.

Noam Laden is very equipped to host a radio show on a popular New York News/Talk radio station.

WABC should keep with their tradition of Geraldo Rivera and Curtis and Kuby by letting both sides of the issue be known.  It is much more interesting for the listener than the angry, shouting old, white man

With Noam, Geraldo and Curtis and Kuby we have both sides of the news--we have more information to make our own decisions.

Well done today, Noam and thank you for a good show.

Now if we can just do something about the false info on Planned Parenthood spewed by O'Reilly--stirring up hate--can we lay blame at the feet of this individual, as well.

I hope everyone can listen to my girl, Joan Hamburg at 10 AM on Saturdays--this lady has the best recipes--I can't wait to visit New York and see the things she talks about--I love Joan.

Joan Hamburg: Smiling at Sardi's

Joan Hamburg is getting the last laugh.
After WOR Radio coldly dumped her in 2014 after 35 years on the air, Hamburg brought her loyal audience to WABC. On Thursday, her portrait was hung at Sardi’s.
The beloved expert on just about everything was hailed by her husband Mort, her kids Liz and John, Lorraine Bracco and Joy Behar, who sang (to the tune of “Will You Love Me Tomorrow”):
“You say you need a lawyer/You tripped and fell in the foyer/You call on Joan/She sends you Schwartz & Klein/Now you can sue your employer.”

Art Bell: Monday-Friday 9PM Midnight In The Desert.......He's Back.........

Hello out there to everyone in talk radio land from The Ronnie Republic Radio Round-Up.......

Are you enjoying Art Bell--it is so nice to have him back and it is nice to have more choices for nighttime talk radio.

I like Art's show and I like the way he runs his show, his demeanor, etc.

We can count on Art Bell to make it through the night without getting angry, selling a dating system or bashing President Obama.

I still listen to Coast to Coast AM on occasion but most of the time I jump over to the station with Art.

But what do you think...............

Art has  a whole lot of fans out there.......I am hoping more regular radio stations pick him up, as well but the sound has been great on my computer.

Your thoughts...........

Noam Laden: Anchoring the Anchors at WABC Radio New York

3794353.jpg (604×453)

He takes the friendly common sense approach but his opinion and back up are always welcome at WABC Radio New York.

Listening to Noam Laden every morning as Geraldo Rivera's on air partner and newscaster his presence and voice easily smooths out any possible hint of a dust up between the hosts, today he is with my man Larry Mendte, and the callers.

Well, it has to be a show, it has to be interesting, right--Geraldo has that down to a science but when the heat starts to rise on Geraldo Street Noam is right in there to say the facts and give an equal voice to all of the opinions.

Noam Laden usually agrees with Geraldo Rivera but he also has no problem confidently voicing his opinion, as well--he is not worried about sharing a completely opposite idea from the host--the brilliant thing about Noam--his ability to say something without being offensive.

How does he share his honest views without creating anger--only if we could all do that.........

Noam Laden effortlessly fills in for Geraldo, respectfully interviews the callers and holds the reins for his own show discussing the news topics of the day.

Often said by The Ronnie Re......why not use home grown talent--the talent on hand, Noam Laden as opposed to less-prepared guest hosts.  The shouters usually have to be turned off--much rather listen to Noam than an angry shouter with incorrect facts just bashing our President.

Particularly appreciated are Noam's views about Israel and Palestine.  Always trying to understand the conflict in the Middle East--past and present--Noam often gives us his first hand experience about the situation since he has friends and relatives that actually live there.

It would be so valuable if Noam and Geraldo would do a Israel-Paestine History show because when they start talking in layman's terms they have a good way of letting the listener understand the current situation.

At the end of the day, Noam Laden and Geraldo Rivera run a good show because while they say their own opinion they are not afraid to discuss the opposite view and why it is there--the listener is the winner because we have the facts, the reasons why and we can form our own stance.

Thanks, Noam, well done and good job on the radio.

Now, Larry is talking......I love Larry Mendte, too because he continues to be my Facebook friend after I bashed him so bad over Hillary.  What more can you ask for.....he welcomes my comments.  Call me Karl Rove but it is the political conversation that moves things forward.

The unfortunate thing....Larry is wrong and I've got to let him know.......

1.  Chris Christie is a dynamic political figure--at first he was attractive because it seemed like he was honest and was saying to the citizens of New Jersey "I've got your back."

Now Chris Christie is only seen as a bully--he has shown his true self.  He will never receive the financial backing now to run against Hillary Clinton because he will be perceived as a bully and that will only pave the way to the White House for his female contender.

2.  As far as the nurse returning from Africa Christie wanted to quarantine against the threat of spreading Ebola.  Christie does not know what he is talking about.  Let him get the facts from the CDC......the science is on the side of the nurse.....Christie is basically running for president.  Let him find out the facts and the science behind them next time before he makes a spectacle of himself.

Spotlight on Women: Lynda Martin

Lynda Martin

What is your background? I was born in London and grew up in the U.S. While I was a student at New House School of Communication at Syracuse University, I received a phone call from my mother informing me our money was gone (that’s another story) and I would have to drop out of school. I was not willing to quit, so I had to find a way. I got three jobs, made copies from books I borrowed, and was homeless. I chose to make it and not fail.
What did you do after college? I wanted to be a network star, so I set out to find a job with a TV station. I was in Worcester, Mass., at the time. No one would hire me after struggling to put myself through college. I was 22, and I walked into a station wearing a red power suit and my hair up in a bun and said I would work for free. They let me work, and eventually I got paid a bit and then got the midnight to 6 a.m. DJ position. Then I got to try out for a TV station working from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at the same time working my midnight job. That lasted for about three weeks until I got hired at the station, and shortly thereafter the anchor job opened and I was able to move into that position.
Was that a good move for you? It was at the time, but then I lost the job and was replaced by a man. So I went to another station, where I was hired immediately and never missed a paycheck.
How did you get to San Diego? In 1999 I came here to start Fox, which at the time was Fox 6 XETV. I have been a TV news anchor/reporter for 13 years and have five Emmy nominations. Three years later I moved on to anchor KSWB five nights a week, until 2005 when that news department shut down. I am still a vacation relief anchor at Fox 6 in addition to my morning anchor job.
Where did you get your drive and determination? I had a fourth-grade teacher who convinced me that I was bright and could do anything I set out to do.
How have others benefited from your leadership? By sharing with others I come in contact with at radio/TV/speaking engagements. I find that my story is an inspiration to others and they learn from my struggles.
How do you give back? I have a brother with autism, so I am very committed to Special Olympics and also to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I have run two marathons and am now a long-distance runner and just did the Low Tide Ride & Stride to benefit Wounded Warriors.
Whom do you most admire? I once interviewed a Holocaust survivor from La Mesa by the name of Eve Gerstle. She is now 98 years old, and I was so impressed with her that I still visit her about once a month. I won my fifth Emmy nomination for that story.
What are your goals for the future? Take my skills to inform and educate others. I have a strong commitment to raising my two sons.
What is your advice to others? Never forget where you come from. You don’t know what is next.
